The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that road safety is a prerequisite to ensuring healthy lives, promoting well-being and making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020, officially proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in March 2010, seeks to save millions of lives by building road safety management capacity; improving the safety of road infrastructure; further developing the safety of vehicles; enhancing the behavior of road users; and improving post-crash response. Guided by the Global Plan, the Decade of Action offers a framework for policy, practice and advocacy to help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The now NATIONAL SAFETY PARTNERSHIP OF LIBERIA, NASAPAL INC today comes from the birth of WoGeS Vehicle -N- Motorcycle Safety Training Services of Liberia in 2011 among few African Countries signed the UN DECLARED 'Decade of Actions for Road Safety 2011-2020" which now entered its second phase, 2021 to 2030.

NASAPAL wasn't very proactive in the first phase of the global Road Safety awareness, however, NASAPAL through its implementing organization, the ALLANCE OF BIKERS AIMED TOWARD EDUCATION, ABATE of Liberia, whose membership are from the fifteen (15) Counties of Liberia will be trained through NASAPAL as AMBASSADORS for ROAD SAFETY, they will implement programs that will ensure the success of the agenda.

NASAPAL INC as of now is building its presence in five (5) of Liberia fifteen (15) Counties, there are growths in Lofa, Nimba, Grand Bassa, Montserrado and Margibi Counties. NASAPAL Inc hope is to make a difference in Liberia by working with the disadvantaged youths, most especially the Commercial Motorcyclists community.

Liberia: First Lady Ambassador Clar Marie Weah is poised to invest in transforming into a modern resort, the Blue Lake vicinity in Bomi County’s capital, Tubmanburg.

The First Lady’s plans to invest in the historic and potential tourists attraction site was pronounced by the President, Dr. George Manneh Weah.

President Weah made the disclosure on Monday, March 22, 2021, during a town hall meeting with residents of Jenneh in Bomi County at the start of the 2nd leg of his County Tour.

The President informed residents of Bomi that his wife has gotten attracted to the beautiful scenes of the Blue Lake and couldn’t afford to see it lie in ruins without doing anything to revamp it.

While craving the support of the people of Bomi, including legislators , the President noted that such investment by the First Lady would not only revitalize the area but also boost the economy.

Mrs. Weah has visited the Blue Lake several times and already ordered a full scale assessment of the area for subsequent rehabilitation.

At another gathering, Bomi County Superintendent, Adama Robinson, praised Mrs. Weah’s move to develop the Blue Lake area, stressing that it would bring some relief to the hardship in the county by providing jobs to several young people.

The First Lady wants to turn the artificial Lake into a premier recreational site where one can find true rest and peace of mind away from the tension-packed Monrovia.

Given the mystery of how the Lake came about, it could also be an attraction to tourists from the around the world.

According to local authorities, the huge body of water, now known as the Blue Lake, came about as a result of mineral mining between 1950s and 60s.

It is said that while digging deep for days with the target of unearthing a mineral believed to a diamond, water suddenly began gushing out of the pit one morning as the miners gathered for the day’s work.

Prior to visiting the Blue Lake, Mrs. Weah had toured other fascinating and naturally beautiful sites including the Sunset Beach in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The First Lady believes that Liberia is abundantly endowed with extremely fantastic scenes

Police Generate Over L$300k From Traffic Ticketing
By Justice R. Clarke

MONROVIA, August 4 (LINA) –The Liberia National Police (LNP) has reported that its Traffic Division deposited into government’s coffers an amount of L$330,773 (US$1,674) for the month of July through the issuance of tickets for traffic violations.

From July 2-28, the division issued 568 tickets to drivers or motorists found violating traffic laws, police spokesman Moses Carter briefed journalist Friday in Monrovia.

Of the total number, Cater said, 48 tickets were paid for by violators, eight were challenged, 21 “warned”, and 137 outstanding for payment.

The police say most of the traffic violations took place in the Monrovia area, whose streets are laden with vehicles, as well as on major highways of the country.

In Monrovia and its environs, drivers are often pulled over for offenses ranging from the use of the road margin to overloading vehicles, while on the highways, they are issued deterrent tickets for either over-speeding, LNP Public Affairs Section told the Liberia News Agency.

It says the LNP does not take pleasure in simply issuing tickets to drivers; but will continue to go after those who ignore the rules and regulations as enshrined in the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of Liberia.

In another development, spokesman Cater told the Friday press briefing that police in Tappita, Nimba County, are investigating a man identified as Dylah Dwayen for allegedly beating to death another man known as Samuel Kollie.

Both men are said to be residents of Kenpea Village, close to Tappita, and the fracas ensued on August 1.

Suspect Dwayen is said to have hit the victim with a piece of stick in the course of an argument that ensued between the two, after which “the victim fell unconscious and was rushed to the Tappita Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.”
