Last week, Year 9 students interested in studying GCSE History were lucky enough to assist the National Trust for the Cayman Islands with the Llewellyn Project.
The Llewellyn house, built in 1875, is a traditional wattle-and-daub structure that has been carefully relocated from central George Town to a roundabout on Bobby Thompson Way. Students were invited by project lead Lottie Grey (CPHS alumna) to join her in processing excavated material and recovering historic artefacts.
Lottie taught the students about archaeology - what it is, why this project is important, and the types of sites and materials found in the Cayman Islands. Armed with toothbrushes, students cleaned bone, ceramic, glass, and clay pipe fragments, while others sorted metal into similar items. Much to Mrs Bakerโs surprise, the most popular activity by far was bone cleaning - who knew!
We hope weโve helped the project and look forward to discovering what they uncover next.

๐๐ Year 6 Adventures at CCMI! ๐ ๐
We were thrilled to see our final Year 6 students embark on their unforgettable residential visit to the CCMI - Central Caribbean Marine Institute last week - and what an experience it was!
Across every trip, our students truly shone. Their outstanding behaviour, enthusiasm, and full engagement made us incredibly proud, and they represented the school with maturity and positivity at every step. ๐
From learning about tropical marine life to confidently snorkeling over vibrant coral reefs, the children fully immersed themselves in this unique environment. They explored a rich variety of species, built their own model reefs using natural materials, and took part in creative activities and discussions focused on protecting our oceans.
What stood out most was their teamwork, curiosity, and growing sense of responsibility for the natural world. Experiences like these are invaluable - helping our students grow not just academically, but personally too.
We couldnโt be prouder of how they embraced every opportunity and supported one another throughout this incredible journey. ๐

๐ Earth Day Celebrations at High School ๐
Our High School students celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday with a civvy day, raising funds for Protect Our Future. Snow cones were a big hit at break and lunch, and students got creative by designing a human billboard - check out the photo!
Lunchtime also brought some relaxing rock painting, reminding us how small actions can make a big impact. Letโs continue caring for our planet together! ๐โป๏ธ
