I am at my desk furiously typing away getting ready for the next weeks lessons with my noise cancelling headphones( great buy for any one that lives with kids- use with caution- a great pair can make you completely oblivious to the outside world). In T minus 18 hours, school will begin. The kinder will rush in and there will be a flurry of activity between what you did last summer to what you will do this year. Counting is fundamental and one of the most natural processes we can go through. So when counting with kids, it is also important that they grow and stretch in their thinking on Math. Strong counting skills is the base root to it all. I want to incorporate more reading into Math. I find that the kids make a better connection to counting things if there is a purpose for counting. I'm hasty... well, maybe more like a cat who has seen a cucumber when it comes to the beginning go the year( If you haven't seen those videos on youtube, it makes for a good laugh). I find myself in July and August ( school starts in September here) months having to coach myself through the proper way to plan a year when all I want to do is act like a kid who has been given money to spend.
