Kiribati Badminton Federation proudly hosted the Ceremonial Handover and Acknowledgement of Equipment Donation from Japan at the Sport Complex.

We extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the Japan Badminton Association for their generous donation of badminton equipment to support the continued development of badminton in Kiribati.

We were deeply honoured by the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Mr. IKEDA Hirotsugu and officials from the Embassy of Japan in Kiribati, representatives from JICA, the owner of Ameta Enterprise as one of our valued sponsors, the Officer-in-Charge and staff from MWYSSA, together with members of the badminton community who joined us to celebrate this special occasion.

This valuable contribution will greatly support our grassroots programs, athlete development initiatives, schools, and national players as we continue working to strengthen badminton throughout Kiribati.

More than just sporting equipment, this donation represents friendship, partnership, and a shared commitment towards empowering young people through sport and healthy community engagement.

Congratulations to the leadership team confirmed at today’s BOC Annual General Meeting 2026.

We acknowledge the re-election of the President, Mr Loke Poh Wong, returned unopposed, reflecting strong confidence in their leadership and continued vision for badminton across Oceania.

We also extend our congratulations to Vice President Mr Glenn Cox on retaining his position, continuing to provide valuable guidance and experience to the region.

Congratulations to Board Members David Carrington (Australia) and Sandra Low (Guam) on their continued service for the next four-year term.

A special welcome to Warren Lee (Fiji) on his election to the Board for a two-year term.

We wish all members every success as they continue to lead and develop badminton throughout Oceania.

The Hayate Cup 2026 was successfully concluded last night with an exciting Grand Finals Night, featuring the championship matches in Men’s Singles (MS), Men’s Doubles (MD), and Mixed Doubles (XD).

Our athletes delivered outstanding performances bringing the tournament to a memorable finish. The evening concluded with the presentation of prizes and a closing celebration, where players, officials, and supporters gathered to celebrate the success of this special event.

The Kiribati Badminton Federation was deeply honored to welcome the Ambassador of Japan to Kiribati, His Excellency Mr. IKEDA Hirotsugu during the Hayate Cup 2026 Quarterfinal matches yesterday evening.

The ambassador's visit was a great privilege for our players, officials, and supporters, and it reflects the strong friendship between Japan and Kiribati as well as the shared commitment to sport development.

During the visit, Ambassador Ikeda kindly presented the Federation with a special gift featuring the flags of Japan and Kiribati. This thoughtful gesture symbolizes the close partnership and goodwill between our two nations.

These tags will be proudly used within our badminton community and will serve as a lasting reminder of Japan’s friendship and support for sport development in Kiribati.
