~Dave
Some of these jokes are a 'play on words.'

* A horse walks into a bar. The barman asks: “Why the long face?”

*A horse walks into a bar. “Hey,” says the barman. “Yes please,” says the horse.

*Have you heard the one (the joke) about the runaway horse? It’s a terrible tale of WHOA!

*Where do horses go when they’re sick? The horsepital.

*"He eats like a horse." - it means he eats too much!

*What’s black and white and eats like a horse? A zebra.

*Why did the man stand behind the horse? He was hoping to get a kick out of it. (It's a double meaning)
(To 'get a kick out of something' means to feel some adrenaline)

Physical Appearance (how people look)

Which is the most important: clothes, shoes, hair, hygiene, fitness style?
What is the first thing you notice about a person?

- I notice their faces first. I notice their clothes too.

- I notice people's smell. If they smell bad I really notice that, or if they stink of perfume or aftershave.

Is it important how people dress?

- It depends on where they are and what they are doing.

- There are a lot of kids at my school and it matters how I dress.

- It's good to wear a school uniform because you don't need to think about what you need to wear every day.

Is weight and fitness important?

- It's better when you are fit and healthy and not too fat.

- It's bad to be lazy: we need to do some sports and stay fit!

Height = зріст
weight = вага

I weigh 50kgs = Я важу 50 кг

hygiene = staying clean

TAKE UP (in the present tense) - TOOK UP (in the past tense)

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

To go “back to the drawing board” means to start again from the beginning with completely new ideas. The phrase makes you think of a blackboard being wiped clean. It is most often used when an idea or project is rejected.

It sounds quite friendly when you use it to say that you’re scrapping your own idea. However, asking someone else to “go back to the drawing board” on a project can come off a bit strong!

“The client hated your proposal, so we’ll have to go back to the drawing board.”

Proposal - stress on 'po.' (idea / offer)

“He’s going back to the drawing board on this one.”

"I designed an app, but it totally failed. Now I need to go back to the drawing board."

"Dave, your idea isn't good enough, you're going to have to go back to the drawing board."

"I wrote a song about cats, and no one liked it. I need to go back to the drawing board and write a new song."

"I designed a hat that looked like an egg. No one wants to buy it, so I need to go back to the drawing board!"

Part I.

Certificate - sounds like 'cut.'

In the morning / In the afternoon / In the evening / At lunchtime.

women - swimming!

Woman - good

“I love your idea about painting the fence, but I don’t think it’s actionable at the moment.” (doable/possible/feasible)

It's a feasible idea. / It isn't a feasible idea.

Chase - 8 - hate - chase

“Let’s cut to the chase: are you going to finish the report on time or not?”

(What are you ACTUALLY trying to say? I don't understand your point.)

-----------------------------------------------------------
Trump is a very Dynamic speaker.

Biden is a very undynamic speaker.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Let's get the ball rolling!

-----------------------------------------------------------
Part II.
WORKING ON IDIOMS

STREAMLINE
process - try not to say 'ts.' - 's.'

“We need to streamline our management process."

“We need to streamline the archiving process; it’s taking far too long to organize our files.” (To streamline something is to make it smoother). smooth гладкий

To “streamline” is to simplify and expedite a process by eliminating unnecessary work. Beware if someone talks of “streamlining” your team: the word is sometimes used to hint that non-essential employees will soon lose their jobs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALIGN
Two ships aligning with each other before docking:
I think we need to align with the customer service department on this issue.”

Businesses with high staff numbers often talk about “alignment” between teams. This means ensuring that different departments are working towards the same goals, and not accidentally working against each other or doing similar tasks without sharing what they have learned.

If your boss says you “need to align” on something, that usually means a meeting is coming up soon to get everyone on the same page.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

GO TO EXTRA MILE
effort - stress on 'eff.'
“We always go the extra mile for our customers.”

To “go the extra mile” is to put more effort into a task in order to gain a result that is even better than what was expected or necessary. If someone says you “went the extra mile” on a project, they are praising your work ethic and/or the work you produced!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOWN THE LINE
“They won’t make a difference now, but we will benefit from positive reviews down the line.” (Later, but we can't say 'exactly' when.)

“Down the line” is a friendly expression for “at some point in the future.”

My German will be better 'down the line.'

We can use this idea 'down the line.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

GOING FORWARD
“We need to find out if increasing the budget will be sustainable going forward.”

“Going forward, I want you to work on your time management.”

"We spent a long time working on the site, but now we need to work on promotion, going forward."

"Going forward, I want to concentrate on site promotion."

The phrase “going forward” is extremely common in business English, especially in emails. It is a more formal way to say “from now onwards.”

It refers to an action that will start now and continue into the immediate future.

-----------------------------------------------------------
LET GO
“We need to let Simon go; he has been very late almost every day this month.” (We need to fire him).

“Due to budget cuts, half of the Video Team has been let go.” (Half of the team has been made redundant).

She was made redundant = Її звільнили
I was made redundant by Microsoft.

We need to make some redundancies, sorry guys.
fun

“Let go” is a gentle way of saying employees are being fired or made redundant. It is more commonly heard than “fired” since it is considered much more polite.

The word “let” sounds like it could refer to someone leaving their job willingly, but this is not the case: “Let go” is never used to talk about someone who has left a company by choice.

"I'm afraid we're going to have to let you go."

Взялся за французский, так как в итальянской школе это второй иностранный. У него нет страха и нет границ его возможностям, потому что его учителя - иностранцы, носители языка. В планах - немецкий. Будем искать спикера и компанию студентов. Вместе веселей. Дух соревнования, живое общение, навыки работы в команде.
