Our reproduction of a polychrome mosaic dating back to the late 2nd century CE, discovered in 1711 in the garden of the Church of Santa Sabina on the Aventine Hill. It depicts scenes of music and dance with figures who may represent actors in a pantomime, including dancers and players of tibiae and crotales.
The original mosaic is part of the Vatican Museums collection (in the first picture ✨).

My experience as an intern at the Studio Cassio
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to do this internship at the Studio Cassio.
This month was an interesting, varied and impressive experience. I have not only helped preparing courses but also took part in an ancient- and a micromosaic course myself and learned about different techniques. I have to say I underestimated the patience and sensitivity you need to lay mosaic but I had some time and tasks to improve my skills.
I gained knowledge by doing researches and visited churches to get a firsthand impression of the art and artists.
I got to know a lot of nice, open people and gained an Insight into everyday life and the tasks in the studio.
The internship not only gave me the chance to be a small part of a big project, but also to gain an Insight into life in Rome including lots of experiences.
