Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (Autonomous) is a premier self-financing institution that commenced its operations in 1985 and attained Autonomous status in 2016. Department of Automobile Engineering, which was established in 1999 with a sanctioned intake of 30 students, later increased to 60 in 2009. The department boasts well-qualified and experienced faculty and staff members, equipped with proven abilities and administrative skills. Its state-of-the-art laboratories cater to the needs of the students, facilitating their education and research in Automobile Engineering and related areas.

This institution marks a significant milestone as the first college in Tamil Nadu to introduce B.E. Mechanical Engineering (Automobile) program focusing on Hybrid & Electric Vehicles, starting from the Academic Year 2024-25.

The Department of Automobile Engineering at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering inaugurated the opening ceremony of The Association of Automobile Engineering (AAE) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Club of SVCE. The event occurred on October 13, 2023 (Friday) from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the Bio-Tech Tech Conference Hall, SVCE. The keynote address delivered by the guest speaker heightened awareness among the students, guiding them to prepare themselves to meet industry expectations and standards.
