KIIT School of Language & Literature (KSLL) heartily welcomes newly appointed faculty member, Dr. Trina Bose, Assistant Professor into its family. Dr. Bose has completed her Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar and has studied M.A. from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. She will be teaching at the Department of English Literature at KSLL. We wish her success in future academic endeavours at KIIT University.

Farewell get-together title 'Que Sera Sera' organized to bid adieu the 2024 graduating batches of M.A. and B.A. students of English literature of the KIIT School of Language & Literature(KSLL) with lots of fun. Electrifying performances and memorable moments of camaraderie among senior & junior students were at display with full josh. Event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Samaresh Mishra, Director - Student Affairs, KIIT-DU as Chief Guest who blessed the graduating students for their bright future along with Prof. (Dr.) Beerendra Pandey, Dean, KSLL. Japanese cultural orientation of the students of KIIT University in association with the visiting students of rugby team from Doshisha University, Japan through an interactive event curated and organized by the native Japanese language instructor & JICA volunteer, Ms Mami Kimura on behalf of KIIT School of Language & Literature (KSLL).The Japanese cultural event was supervised by the high-level delegation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) who interacted with students and encouraged their efforts. KIIT students had 4 Japanese cultural experiences – 1) Hashi(chopsticks) booth: Learned how to use chopsticks by picking up beans; 2) Game booth: Tried Japanese traditional games, kendama and otedama; 3) Shuji (Japanese calligraphy) booth: Wrote their names in Japanese and 4) Nigongo (Japanese language) booth: Interaction with Japanese university students and self-introduction themselves in Japanese as they learned in the Japanese class. Also the Associated Dean of the KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Nitin Sharma, participated in this engaging and enriching learning activity. Japanese cultural event at KIIT on 1st March, 2024 is a first-of-its-kind activity at the University which is intended to create a Japanese learning ecosystem and promote cultural exchange among youth in order to strengthen to India- Japan bilateral relations through people-to-people contact.

A high-level delegation from JICA - Japan International Cooperation Agency had a courtesy interaction with Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT Deemed to be University during their two-day visit to oversee the progress & review the status of various projects funded by JICA, particularly in Japanese language training and rugby coaching.

Alumni talk “Studying in Europe: Opportunities and Challenges” delivered by Ms. Simran Das (Alumna of KSLL, UG English Hons. Batch of 2020-23) and presently postgraduate student in University of Naples Federico II, Italy, was organized by KIIT School of Language and Literature (KSLL) on February 24, 2024.
The session, conducted in hybrid mode, was curated by Prof. Tanmoy Putatunda, Assistant Professor, KSLL and anchored by Ms. Nitika Nayak, postgraduate student of KSLL. The audience, consisting of present students, faculty and staff in the School, engaged in meaningful discussion with Ms. Das, who enlightened everyone about the process of studying abroad, challenges and opportunities involved and most significantly, shared snippets of her life in Italy. Ms. Das conveyed her regards to the present students of the School, her gratitude to the faculty members for shaping her journey and also noted fondly that although she has fulfilled her dreams of going abroad, she misses her 'home' which was and will always be School of Language and Literature, KIIT.

Day2 of International Conference on Cross-Religious Exchanges by KIIT School of Language and Literature (KSLL) upheld the thematic concerns introduced in the plenary and key note addresses of the first day. The pre-lunch session was divided into three parallel sessions which were conducted in both, in -person and hybrid format. Presenters from different parts of the country engaged themselves in scholarly debates and deliberations on Sri Jagannath culture, the rituals of Nabakalebara, Worship of Darubramha and the ecocentric nature human relationship in social and religious practices in north-eastern India. All the sessions critically explored interconnections between religion, culture and society.
This was followed by two plenary addresses - the first plenary speaker was Dr. Epsita Halder, Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The second speaker was Dr. Paritosh Dugar, former Professor and Principal, Govt PG College, Department of Education, Rajasthan.
Dr. Halder discussed how Kolkata's Shia community's engagement with the social media platforms in recent years has shaped the performative and representational aspects of Muharram. Prof. Dugar spoke on the cultural roots of Pancha Sakha Tradition and focused on its spiritual approach.

Inauguration of International Conference on "Cross-Religious Exchanges in Eastern Indian Cultural and Literary Traditions" by KIIT School of Language and Literature (KSLL) on 15th February 2024 was done by Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Hon'ble Vice-chancellor of KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Jnyanaranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU; Prof.(Dr.) Beerendra Pandey, Dean, KSLL and key note speaker & distinguished scholar Prof.(Dr.) Sukhbir Singh. Led by Prof.(Dr.) Beerendra Pandey and Dr. Gourab Chatterjee, the event unveiled profound insights into Eastern Indian culture. From revered speakers like Prof.(Dr.) Sukhbir Singh and Prof. (Dr.) Dharm P S Bhawuk to engaging parallel sessions witnessing presentations by scholars and educators from India and abroad, intricate connections between religion and literature were explored. With discussions on Hindu scriptures, religious practices, and modern influences on cross religious exchanges like social media, each session dealt with critical discourses related to the interconnections of literature, culture and religion. As day one of the conference concludes, delegates and participants depart with enriched knowledge of the vibrant tapestry of Eastern Indian traditions.

KIIT Fest 7.0’s “Tennie We**ie Tales”, an intra-University competition on writing small stories (in 12-15 words) was conducted successfully by KIIT School of Languages & Literature (KSLL) on 14th February 2024 with lots of fun and enthusiasm by participants & organizers. Both the winners - Akash Rout (1st) and Sayantan Samanta(2nd) – belong to the School of Computer Science Engineering.

300 Language Students of KIIT & KISS participated at the First World Odia Language Conference:
Over 300 students from the School of Language & Literature from both the sister institutions - KIIT - Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and KISS - Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) -participated with great enthusiasm at the day-long session of First World Odia Language Conference on 5th February, 2024. Along with listening to renowned international scholars and observing the deliberations of “Odisha@2036: A Space for Tomorrow” by leading business leaders, students were enthralled with the vibrant display of different facets of Odishan culture through an elaborate exhibition. Students were also excited to hear internationally acclaimed Odia fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra. All of them witnessed the closing ceremony of this great conference which was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha.
