**Special Lecture on “History of Partition: Looking Back” at KD College**

Today, at the invitation of the Department of History, KD College of Commerce and General Studies, Dr. Mangal Kumar Nayak, Head of the Department of History, Narajol Raj College, delivered a special lecture on the theme "History of Partition: Looking Back."

In his insightful address, Dr. Nayak presented a comprehensive analysis of the latest research findings concerning the traumatic and transformative episode of the Partition of the Indian subcontinent. His lecture shed light on the human, social, and political consequences of Partition, drawing from scholarly research and personal narratives that highlighted the long-lasting impact of this historic event.

The academic session was further enriched by the presentation of select documentaries, fostering a serious and reflective atmosphere among students and faculty members alike. Dr. Nayak's factual analysis and thoughtful engagement prompted a deeper understanding and critical reflection on one of the most painful chapters in South Asian history.

Dr. Nayak extended his heartfelt gratitude to **Professor Dulal Chandra Das**, Principal of KD College, and **Professor Rajesh Dalui**, Head of the Department of History, for providing him with the opportunity to engage in this important academic discourse. He also warmly thanked the faculty members of the History Departmen, Professors Swapan Dolai, Professor Rajkumar Rana and Professor from other departments, and all the students who attended and actively participated in the discussion.

আজ Narajole Raj College-এর উদ্যোগে বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস উপলক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত হলো একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাজ্যস্তরীয় সেমিনার, যার বিষয় ছিল –
“Environmental Degradation and Restoration: Duties and Responsibilities of Civilians”
অর্থাৎ “পরিবেশ বিপর্যয় ও পুনরুদ্ধার: নাগরিকদের কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব”।

তিনি পরিবেশ দূষণের বৈজ্ঞানিক দিক, এর প্রভাব, এবং টেকসই উন্নয়নের পথনির্দেশ বিষয়ে তথ্যভিত্তিক ও চিন্তাশীল আলোচনা করেন। পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণের জন্য সচেতন নাগরিক হিসেবে আমাদের ভূমিকা কী হওয়া উচিত, সে বিষয়েও তাঁর বক্তব্য ছিল অত্যন্ত প্রাসঙ্গিক ও উদ্বুদ্ধকর।

ONE-DAY STATE LEVEL SEMINAR ON
GANDHANI PHILOSOPHY: SOCIAL RECONSTTRUCTION AND POLITICAL CULTURE IN POST INDEPENDENCE INDIA

Department of History and Department of Philosophy is organizing a One-Day State Level Seminar on "*Gandhi Philosophy : Social Reconstruction and political culture in post independence india.*
on May 29, 2025, in the Smart Auditorium hall, Narajole Raj College, Paschim Medinipur.

The seminar aims to discuss the significance of
Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy, grounded in truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), and self-rule (swaraj), played a central role in India’s freedom movement . Post-independence, Gandhi's ideas remained influential in shaping the socio-political ethos of the nation.
This concept note aims to explore how Gandhian thought contributed to social reconstruction and influenced the evolving political culture in India after 1947.

The seminar featured distinguished keynote speakers: Professor Tapan Kumar De, former Dean of the Arts and Commrce Department at Vidyasagar University, and Professor Sourav Naskar from the History Department of the same institution. The seminar was presided over by Dr. Basudeb Mondal, Principal of Narajole Raj College.

A total of twenty professors and researchers presented their papers, contributing to the academic richness of the seminar. The success of the event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of professors, students, and college authorities from both departments involved.
Professor Mangal Kumar Nayak, Head of the History Department and one of the joint conveners of the seminar organizing committee, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants and supporters for their valuable contributions.
