60 years young today. A happy birthday!

Springdales School, Pusa Road lit up for Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this mail to you condoling the totally unexpected and untimely passing of our dear President Emeritus of OSA, the life force behind the organization, Mr. Niranjan Ajwani on April 23rd this year, of a massive heart attack. He was 67 years of age.

Ever since Niranjan passed out of Springdales as a member of the first outgoing batch of 1963, he was totally committed to his Alma matter and to OSA of which he was a Founder member since 1972, when it first took birth.

Since then he had been an inspiration to all Springdalians, serving as a member of the Springdales Education Society, on the Managing Board of Springdales School Dhaula Kuan, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of OSA. He was our Think Tank, a man of innovative and creative ideas who believed in the Springdalian philosophy, ideals and traditions and wanted it to spread through our Old Springdalian Association throughout the world.

He was the creator of the Golden Commitment at our Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2005, at the helm of the celebrations for Homeward Bound in 2007 and was in the process of producing the Diamond commitment for our coming jubilee year, when the icy hands of death took him away from us. He was the architect for the restructuring of OSA giving it a form and shape, to bring it in tune with its motto “Value, Vision, Harmony”, and to become one of the foremost and finest Alumni Associations.

Let us work together and go forward to ensure that our Diamond Year is celebrated with his passion and spirit and work towards fulfilling even an impossible dream. Let us make the commemoration of our sixty years journey in Education, of which you all have been a valuable part, a fitting tribute to all that the school stands for and which Niranjan so fully supported.

Please contribute in whatever way you can and most importantly take an active part in the various activities and events that will be organized throughout the year. The calendar will be circulated shortly.

We are also dedicating the year to the Preservation of our Environment, to Go green and to work for a sustainable future, issues dear to Niranjan’s heart.
