Windows Server Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors and maintains Windows Server operating system and additional server components including but not limited to IIS, SMTP Services, Active Directory, SQL Server, and ASP.net troubleshooting and management.
Applies patches to major subsystems and services, roles, and filesystem components within a Windows Systems environment and performs Operating System and patch testing on all changes prior to installation.
Executes basic PowerShell or Command Shell commands.
Monitors and reviews system logs and detect and troubleshoot problems.
Writes basic technical operating system documentation.
Controls system access and security aspects of critical systems.
Can work remotely to provide 24x7 support on critical systems.
Establishes and maintains suitable resource and performance monitoring on all systems.
Establishes and maintains automated patching for all systems for which employee is responsible.
Provides technical support and customer service directly to end users through ticketing system and periodically through screen sharing.
Discovers and communicates potential service problems through identifying patterns occurring across separate help desk tickets and customer reports
Works efficiently with minimal guidance from Senior or Lead administrators.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
At least 1 years relevant Windows Server 2008/2012 experience is preferred
Experience in troubleshooting technical problems involving software and operating systems
Experience in effective communication and collaborating in a high performance team environment
Experience providing technical support in a customer service role
Experience using patience, sensitivity and effective communication with a wide range of people, including the technically proficient and those with minimal computing experience or technical skill
Experience writing technical documentation for a technical audience
Able to respond and troubleshoot during off-hours in a 24x7 environment.
Familiarity with networking topology concepts.
Familiarity with any Email Server and supported clients (Outlook, WebApp, etc.) and mail concepts (IMAP, SMTP, etc.)
Familiarity with IIS 7 / 8, SSL concepts, IIS load balancing, application pool management, ASP.net troubleshooting.
Familiar with MS SQL Server and its key features (installation, DB/user creation, DB backups and restore) and familiar with DB performance management and troubleshooting.
Completion of at least one Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP) is preferred
Linux System Admin
Required Skills:
Working with Linux shell is a prerequisite
IPtables add/remove IPs to port access
View server resources with top, ps, netstat
Able to install LAMP stack on server with virtual hosting
Hosting control panel knowledge like Plesk, Cpanel, PHPMyAdmin
Wordpress and basic html editing knowledge
Postfix, Courier-IMAP, FTP services
DNS resolution, DNS types, RDNS and bind configuration
Can read and understand system, mail, ftp, httpd logs
Prior customer support / technical support experience over phone / email is preferred
Proactive customer support and prioritise issue resolution in a quick and efficient manner
Sound Knowledge of web server: apache, nginx, Exim, postfix, dns, mysql, ftp
Experience in any one of scripting language (bash, perl, python, php)
Knowledge of server security and hardening, tuning, patching, optimization.
Knowledge of Cloud Computing concepts including virtualisation, public and private clouds.
Able to learn and implement new services and solutions with a quick turnaround time.
Requirements:
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux
Minimum 12 months Linux system administration experience is preferred.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently to resolve customer issues.
Web Hosting knowledge with Plesk/Cpanel is recommended.
Able to respond and troubleshoot during off-hours in a 24x7 environment.
Desire to learn and improve Sysadmin and Devops skills in a fast paced environment
