Republic Day honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic. 26 January was chosen as the Republic day because it was on this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.

Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated in honor of Hindu God Vishwakarma, who is regarded as the divine architect. The construction of Dwarka, the holy city where Lord Krishna ruled, is attributed to Vishwakarma.
There is a tradition of kite flying associated with the festival that goes back a few centuries. The art of kite flying caught up in Bengal in the 1850s. Some people showed off their wealth by affixing currency notes to their kites.
He is also the designer of all the flying chariots of the Gods and their weapons. As a mark of reverence for his divine skills of architecture and engineering, every year in the month of September, people pay tribute to the divine creator. Workmen, engineers, builders, smiths, welders, and people from various other professions perform the puja in their homes and offices. On this day, people clean and decorate their vehicles and perform puja. Machines in factory floors and stores are also decorated. Kite flying competitions are also organized. The sky filled with colorful kites is a sight to behold. The ritual is mainly observed in parts of eastern and northern India.

Subhas Chandra Bose (23 January 1897 – 18 August 1945) was an Indian nationalist whose defiant patriotism made him a hero in India, but whose attempt during World War II to rid India of British rule with the help of N**i Germany and Imperial Japan left a troubled legacy. The honorific Netaji (Hindustani: "Respected Leader"), first applied in early 1942 to Bose in Germany by the Indian soldiers of the Indische Legion and by the German and Indian officials in the Special Bureau for India in Berlin, was later used throughout India.
