नए साल की पहली सुबह, इसरो ने अपने नाम एक शानदार उपलब्धि दर्ज की।

On the first morning of the New Year, ISRO registered a spectacular achievement.

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) ने मंगलवार को एक्स-रे पोलरिमीटर उपग्रह का सोमवार को प्रक्षेपण किया। प्रक्षेपण के लिए 25 घंटे की उलटी गिनती खत्म होने के बाद 44.4 मीटर लंबे रॉकेट ने चेन्नई से करीब 135 किलोमीटर दूर इस अंतरिक्ष तल से उड़ान भरी।

खास बात है कि इस मिशन को इसरो ने अपने सबसे भरोसेमंद ध्रुवीय उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण यान (PSLV) से लॉन्च किया। सी58 मिशन में मुख्य एक्स-रे पोलरिमीटर उपग्रह (एक्सपोसैट) को पृथ्वी की 650 किलोमीटर निचली कक्षा में स्थापित किया। पीएसएलवी ने यहां पहले अंतरिक्ष तल से सुबह नौ बजकर 10 मिनट पर उड़ान भरी थी।
इसरो ने बताया कि इस उपग्रह का लक्ष्य सुदूर अंतरिक्ष से आने वाली गहन एक्स-रे का पोलराइजेशन यानी ध्रुवीकरण पता लगाना है। यह किस आकाशीय पिंड से आ रही हैं, यह रहस्य इन किरणों के बारे में काफी जानकारी देते हैं। पूरी दुनिया में एक्स-रे ध्रुवीकरण को जानने का महत्व बढ़ा है। यह पिंड या संरचनाएं ब्लैक होल, न्यूट्रॉन तारे (तारे में विस्फोट के बाद उसके बचे अत्यधिक द्रव्यमान वाले हिस्से), आकाशगंगा के केंद्र में मौजूद नाभिक आदि को समझने में मदद करता है। इससे आकाशीय पिंडों के आकार और विकिरण बनाने की प्रक्रिया को समझने में मदद मिलेगी।
