Hoshanot In Depth 23/08/2024

There's two main reasons why we decided this series was necessary now: The first is that even though Hoshanot are only said on Sukkot, they encompass many of the themes and ideas we focus on starting in Elul. The second is that once Sukkot arrives, it's hard to suddenly be immersed in Hoshanot, if we have not already reviewed them earlier.

Sign up now and join Rabbi Yehoshua Geller starting September 1st as he sets sail on a journey through Elul, Rosh hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, all under the umbrella of Hoshanot.

Explore the significance of Hoshanot in the Beit Hamikdash, how אנא ה הושיעה נא would be said while surrounding the altar, and how that translates to our practice of Hoshanot today.

Parshat Ekev 5784 22/08/2024

Parshat Vaetchanan 5784 16/08/2024

This week's Dvar Torah with Rabbi Johnny Solomon: According to Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi (Avot 6:2), every single day a heavenly voice (bat kol) emanates from Mount Horeb to stir the Jewish nation to cleave to the Torah. The question we must ask is: Can this voice be heard? And if so, who can hear this voice?

Parsha Vaetchanan – The Power of a Good Word

In this week's Torah reading, we are told about the Arei Miklat, the cities of refuge, to which somebody who unintentionally caused somebody else's death would flee to avoid being killed by the relatives of that person. The first three of the six cities of refuge, outside of Israel, are mentioned in this portion, but they did not begin functioning until 14 years later when the second three of the cities of refuge were established in Israel. The reason for this teaches the importance of instilling hope in other people.
