Dear all, I earnestly urge you to take this surveys which is very important for our loved ones especially young children, lady expecting, weak family members, Granny and granddads. The reason is when we disregard the importance of food safety practices in our very home and our careless mistake could lead to unimaginable disaster. This can be prevented by following Food Safety Authority Ireland’s recommendation. This survey is designed to measure the knowledge of safe food practices of the residents in Ireland. Upon the finding, the researcher will recommend the Health Service Executive on risk communication effort to the people of Ireland. Your participation will count. This survey is in part of the Masters in Food Safety Management programme at Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland. Also please post this to your email list or share as many as you can. Foodborne illness is a significant public health issue and is very costly, including medical expenses, loss of earnings, and reduced quality of life. Dr Thomas Quigley, Director of Food Science, Safefood Ireland commented that during the handling and preparation of foods in the domestic kitchen harmful bacteria simply spread, quickly contaminating other foods and surfaces. Your participation in this survey is voluntary and all of your responses will be kept confidential. Thank you very much for your time and cooperation. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8CW7D9N Survey: Individual Knowledge of Food Safety Practices in the Republic of Ireland Web survey powered by SurveyMonkey.com. During their recent visit, the students from DSI, St. John's College, joined in some Fundamental Movement challenges, played games with the children, chatted with staff about their work and staff also took part in a Questions & Answers session to assist the students with their Work Practice Module assignment. We thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Oh! What excitement! Happy Birthday!

As you may be aware the Early Years Alliance (EYA) is organising a national protest which will be held on Wednesday February 5th in Dublin to highlight the ongoing crisis in the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector.
Where possible providers, practitioners and parents are invited to join the EYA on the day of the protest to show support for investment in high quality and affordable ECEC services. Some services are closing on the 5th. However we are staying open. Some of our staff will attend the protest. The rest of us look forward to marking the day @ WCC with a hand holding ceremony in solidarity with those who are attending.
For those who can't attend, EYA would like you to spread the message of support far and wide – with other parents, your friends, family and colleagues. I have summarized some recent correspondence from the EYA below:

We make a beard shape and the tree shape for Christmas tree. To sign Reindeer just show us your antlers! For our snowman gently flicker your fingers from raised arms for 'snow' then touch your shoulders and your pockets for 'man'! Super job Senior Preschool!

General information

The centre was established to fill the void created by the lack of a suitable community childcare facility for those returning to full or part time work and/or education, with a particular emphasis on mothers who wished to rejoin the work force. In 1992 a team of dedicated people got together to assess these needs including local employers, the chamber of Commerce and representatives from FÁS, IDA, union and educational institutions. Information was gathered locally, nationally and internationally with assistance from the leading childcare experts in Holland, who were considered, at the time, to be the leaders in childcare. Next, suitable premises and an ideal location were needed. The heart of the industrial area with its proximity to the local businesses, colleges and services including FÁS, IDA, WIT, AEC, Centre for Further Education, etc. was chosen and today over 70% of the parents using our facility work on the Industrial Estate. The hard work of the dedicated committee came to fruition in July 1994 when the centre was opened by president Mary Robinson.
