- Vishal Soni of Mombasa Cement received the Micro, Small, Medium Enterprise CFO Award

- Angela Koech of Guaranty Trust Bank received the Financial Services Sector Award

- Adaora Ndukwe-Ugwu of the Nigerian Petroleum Regulatory Authority received the Public Sector CFO of the Year Award

- Susan Shereni of the Infectious Diseases Institute received the Corporate CFO Award

From 6 to 9 July, Jamil Ampomah, Director - Africa, ACCA, visited Uganda, paying a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Annet Among, who acknowledged the significant contribution of professional accountants to the development of the country.

During his visit, other key engagements included meetings with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Uganda (ICPAU) the Office of the Accountant General, Uganda Revenue Authority and MAT ABACUS Business School.

He also had the pleasure of meeting Samuel Fredrick Mwogeza FCCA, Ag, managing director of Stanbic Bank Uganda and Ronald Makata FCCA, CFO of Stanbic Bank Uganda.

Jamil was also able to meet and thank Japheth Katto, chairman of JKC Consulting Group and Sanjay Rughani, chair of the IFAC Professional Accountants in Business Advisory Group, for their continued support of ACCA.

From 3 to 5 July, Jamil Ampomah, Director - Africa, ACCA, visited Tanzania, meeting with leaders from the Offices of the Accountant General, Auditor General, Internal Auditor General and the Public Finance Management (PFM) Unit at the Ministry of Finance. On the agenda were discussions on strengthening areas such as IPSAS, IFRS, sustainability, big data, AI and other PFM reform priorities.

In addition, Jamil met with leaders from KPMG Tanzania, PWC Tanzania and EY Tanzania to discuss key issues including talent trends, capacity development of our members and public sector finance professionals’ developments in sustainability and AI.

During his trip, Jamil also had the pleasure renewing our memorandum of understanding with PWC Tanzania to support the training and development of members in emerging tax issues in Tanzania.
