Joined by special guest speaker Dr. Rui Zeng from the UOG School of Engineering, participants will learn how pressure and fluid movement dynamics power real-world systems through hands-on activities. 🔩🛠️ As part of the workshop, students will build their own hydraulic lift and tour the Hydraulics Laboratory at UOG to see how local engineers are applying these concepts in research.

Meet Bianca, our research intern majoring in Chemistry-Biology at UOG, mentored by Dr. Phuong Tung Hoang. 🌱Through her internship, she is exploring how biochar-amended soils can improve soil water retention, reduce erosion, and support more sustainable land management practices on Guam. 🪴 Her work highlights how stronger soil systems can help protect both agriculture and watershed health in island communities!

Meet Krysthian, our professional intern majoring in IT & Visual Communications at GCC! ⛰️ 💻 Mentored by Javier Garrido from 2cofly, Krysthian is gaining hands-on experience in drone technology, supporting missions involving lidar mapping, photogrammetry, and thermal imaging. 🛰️ He is also contributing to research exploring how drone applications can support real-world industries across the Pacific.

Meet Isaias, our NGSG research intern majoring in computer science at UOG! 💻🐬

Mentored by Professor Manny Hechanova, Isaias’s project focuses on developing the Marine Mammal Guardian (MMG), a system designed to support safe human-robot collaboration in challenging communication-latent subsurface conditions, such as Earth’s oceans or the subsurface seas of icy moons. 🌊 His work leverages photorealistic simulation to help autonomous systems identify and avoid protected marine life while advancing technologies relevant to exploration in extreme environments.
