No, it’s not autumn on Guam. 🔥🍂 What you see is the charred earth in the aftermath of the wildfire that occurred at the Quinene Reforestation Site in Malesso’ earlier this month.

🌳 Together with the Guam Department of Agriculture’s Forestry team, pilots from our UOG Drone Corps program were deployed earlier last week to map the burn site. This collaborative effort will produce an aerial orthomosaic that will help resource managers understand the extent of the devastating fire, as well as bring light to crucial scientific questions about the incident such as what tree species have been impacted and what strategies can be employed to restore the reforestation site.

Thank you to our partners at Guam Forestry for their tireless work in helping protect our island’s forests and natural resources!

ℹ️ All aerial imagery of the site was captured by professional remote pilots in coordination with the respective authorities. Unauthorized individuals should not replicate imagery of the site without proper permissions.
