We are thrilled to share with you that some students of our Diplomacy and International Relations department have been given the incredible opportunity to attend the 14th International Youth Summer Camp (IYSS) in Basse, under the Theme: "In Search of Peace for Africa", organized by Peace Ambassadors-The Gambia (PAG).

This is a significant milestone for our students as they embark on a journey towards gaining valuable insights into diplomacy and international relations. It is also an excellent platform for them to interact with young people from different parts of the world, share their experiences, and learn from one another.

We believe that this experience will broaden their horizons and help them develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our global community. Through their participation in this event, we are confident that they will return home with newfound knowledge and skills that will enable them to become better global citizens.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our students on this remarkable achievement. We wish them all the best as they participate in this important event, and we eagerly await hearing about their experiences when they return.

*D***A embarks on its nationwide tour on the 9th of July, 2023. Commencing with a visit to the esteemed historical site “Folonko crocodile pool” in Kartong.*

*We then journeyed to the old cooking pot in Bwiam, where we delved into its fascinating history(the cooking pot is said to turn its mouth yearly).*

*Continuing our expedition, we arrived at the Janjanbureh Area Council, engaging in an insightful discussion with the chairman; Honorable Sulayman Sawanneh with his Vice Chairman and line managers shared various operational strategies the council used to implement their mandate in serving the people of CRR South, Thus, we also asked various questions and received informative answers from our hosts.*

*We also had the opportunity to visit the incredible Freedom Tree Monument. This tree holds immense historical significance, as it is said during the era of slavery, any slave who touched the tree would be considered a free person.*

D***As’ visit to the Freedom Tree was precisely a memorable and an inspiring experience. The visit also reminded us of the struggles faced by our ancestors during the pre-colonial era and their quest to attain total freedom and equality. The history of Janjanbureh was also detailed to us by the great historian TAKA T**I and equally the existence of Armitage. Thus, we were deeply moved both emotionally, mentally, and spiritually by the symbolism and importance of this landmark adventure to one of the most important historical and culturally informed places in our beloved country

Three of their staffs received us and made us feel like home. The Deputy High Commissioner told us the challenges and difficulties they faced in a foreign land as Ambassadors or diplomats. She later gave us and inspirational message as young aspiring diplomats and few of the things she mentioned during speaking was discipline, patient and hard work.
Later on, we had an interaction session where some of the students threw few questions e.g
1: What are some of the difficulties that they face in a foreign land?
2: what role did the Embassy took during the entrance of the cassamance/Senegalese troops in the Gambia?
3. What is the importance of having an embassy in a foreign land? Etc
After the whole session at the Embassy, students were made to believe that standing in the areas of the Embassy is equivale
