GIRL POWER CLUB ANNUAL EVENT ❤️✅🙌

The Girl Child is powerful. She has dreams and abilities that if wielded will disrupt the status quo in the patriarchal society she finds herself in. She has foresight; she is intelligent; she is a born leader. When she arises, she makes things happen; once she finds her voice, she would not be silenced; she would not take no for an answer. Contrary to how she is perceived to be a weakling, she is strong. She is a formidable force. In situations when she has to grapple with her male counterparts for a position, if given equal opportunity, she is bound to come out on top.

Yesterday, the Girl Power Club of Tanji Lower Basic School held their annual event in the school ground. They participated in so many activities and amongst them were singing, dancing, poetry, drama, role play amongst other interesting talents were showcased. Significantly, the most important aspect of this very important seminar was giving them the depict picture of what truly the girl child stands for and how they can transform their lives through education and empowerment.

It has been an intense week for them and mentors during the rehearsals getting them ready for the day but at the end of the day they truly manifested the skills and knowledge gained in their rehearsals.

Mrs. Fatou Drammeh a true erudite of hardwork, commitment and an emblem of love. She has been working so hard for the past five (5) years working so hard with these girls helping to nurture them. Despite facing so many challenges in the journey she never relent in putting so much belief in their hearts. The club is back on her feet and certainly we will keep growing by the day.

We ended the day we so much delight shown by the girls as they felt really entertained!

Meanwhile, we are calling on anyone who is interested in sponsoring our club that is formed purposefully to guide and empower the Girl Child through the right path. Please kindly check out to us on this page or WhatsApp on: +220 3294868

EMPOWERING THE GIRL CHILD💪♥️

Encourage dreams, build confidence, provide equal education, break down barriers, be a mentor and role model.

Let's invest in them today to help shape a more equitable and inclusive future.

The GIRLS POWER CLUB of Tanji Lower Basic School yesterday on the 26th January,2024 in their all white T-shirts with the beautiful emblem to tour the length and breadth of the community (Tanji). It is very important to put at the back of our mind that, all girls regardless of age or tribe need to know their fundamental rights and values. So these girls at their teen being acquainted to such values is fundamentally crucial.

We are looking for partners and support from any non-profit organisation or NGO that wishes to partner in uplifting the standards of the girl child in The Gambia.

STUDENTS AWARDED PRIZES FOR INDIVIDUAL BRILLIANCE IN THE NAT📚

Tanji Lower Basic School is an institution that does not only recognize and award excellence, but also celebrates it. The institution is second to none when it comes to awarding outstanding students. Apart from this, indigent students who are academically robust are not left out of this largesse by the school management. They (brilliant students) are awarded prizes for their outright academic performance.

And so today, some brilliant students in the aforementioned school were awarded prizes for their outstanding performance in National Assessment Test (NAT) as out of 300 marks, our first mark was 277 which was scored by the amazing Mariama Jaiteh followed by her colleagues Mariama Sunna, Jariatou Jallow, Fabakary Jammeh, Soffie Sonko, Sirreh Ndong, Arabiatou Bojang and the list goes on…
While presenting the prizes to the students, the deputy-headmaster reiterated the willingness of the management to always award distinguished students, most especially in their academics. He also apprised the other students to buckle down and face their studies with all diligence.
These awards, which were not the first, are symptomatic of the appetency the management has for academic excellence. Every member of the school believes that this action will spur the students on to burn candles at both ends in order to accomplish academic superbness.

In the aftermath of the presentation, all the awardees were smiling with a high hope and passion for more success ahead. Similarly, the activity will sincerely trigger all other students who were unfortunate to collect a prize home to speed up their velocity to move along with the other frequencies for academic excellence.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, perseverance and hard work to achieve it.”

In light of the above, I’d like to use this platform to thank the school administration for coming up with such a real moral boaster initiative in promoting the real academic excellence in Tanji Lower Basic School .Special thanks and gratitude to all teachers who in one way or the other helped the students towards this massive success. Not also forgetting all parents at home for continuously encouraging their children to keep on with the reading routines. Together, we can make Tanji better for the future.

MEET MRS. FATOU DRAMMEH OF TANJI LBS

Meet Mrs. Fatou Drammeh of Tanji Lower Basic School a true beacon of inspiration for the entire community of Tanji. Her unwavering dedication and altruistic spirit shine brightly as she selflessly utilized her hard-earned teaching salary to breathe life into the children’s life in school, thus creating a haven of knowledge and nurturing for children. With the support of a few devoted teachers by her side, she selflessly has forged a path of educational enlightenment, offering this gift of education free to all children on their shoulders and young minds eager to explore and learn vigorously from her garden of knowledge and wisdom. Fatou’s endeavor stands as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of children in the aforementioned institution and others she passed through. Truly, she embodies the essence of a visionary and compassionate leader, and her laudable efforts deserve to be celebrated and celebrated.

In the year 2019, when I came to Tanji Lower Basic School as a classroom teacher I noticed does unchanged qualities in her. She brought together in the first phase about fifty (50) students together and guided them through so many life-changing activities that they will never ever forget. She guided them on poetry, drama, spellings, writing skills and most importantly the effective speaking and writing of English in school and away from school, she succeeded in nurturing those attitudes in the hearts and minds of the students.

What really blows my mind away about her is that, anytime an activity or event is coming up in school she will selflessly scout a new badge of students from different grade levels and guide them within a short time frame and the performance of those students is mind blowing in the presence of the audience. A true beacon of hope and compassion for the entire community of Tanji.

Fatou is a mother to two (Adama & Ousman) and an Aunty to many in and out of the community. Her cooking abilities is next to none, as even before the food is served the aroma that penetrates through the windows blows the minds of the patient gentlemen or women waiting to be served. Her hands are purely magic.

I feel extra privileged to have worked alongside her since my inclusion to the staff profile of Tanji Lower Basic School from start to date. Truly, she embodies the essence of a visionary and compassionate leader, and her laudable efforts deserve to be celebrated and celebrated.

LEARNING IS ALL ABOUT CHANGES 📚✍️♥️

Learning is all about change, and change drives learning. The two are inevitable and go hand in hand. Change is what creates a difference between the present and the future. In each area of life, it raises questions about readiness to take advantage of opportunities and to change behavioural patterns. Learning can bring about change by creating new capabilities and opening the door to new and unexpected opportunities. It also has the potential to empower a person to influence the future, providing choices that would not be available otherwise.

The main purpose of education is the integral development of a person. In addition, it is a source of it’s obvious benefits for a fuller and better life. Education can contribute to the betterment of society as a whole. It develops a society in which people are aware of their rights and duties.
Education is a cultural and learning process. Through this, all people can develop cognitive abilities, physical abilities and establish values and beliefs. That allows us to act as good citizens.

Access to education is a right that all people have equally. Hence it has importance and significant value in the various areas of human development.
Education goes beyond acquiring or reinforcing knowledge. Since it is also a cultural process that allows us to better understand our context.
In this sense, education encompasses different purposes and valuable factors. That includes culture, moral values, cognitive development, and social integration.

I yearn to make education accessible for all but most especially for the girl child in The Gambia, because when the girl child is education we are then assured of a better today and future for our beloved motherland (The Gambia).

Support me today to enroll more girl child in school.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATION ?

INTRODUCTION:

The main purpose of education is the integral development of a person. In addition, it is a source of it’s s obvious benefits for a fuller and better life. Education can contribute to the betterment of society as a whole. It develops a society in which people are aware of their rights and duties.
Education is a cultural and learning process. Through this, all people can develop cognitive abilities, physical abilities and establish values and beliefs. That allows us to act as good citizens.

Aspire to Inspire!

WHY IS EDUCATION IMPORTANT?

You also might think about the goal of education. You must be thinking that why do we need education? What is education for? What is the ultimate purpose of education? Is education important only for employment?

While thinking about education, many questions arise mind. Here is why education is important.

WHAT ARE THE FOUR PURPOSES OF EDUCATION?

Making money, indoctrinating, leading the way etc, are their ultimate goals. But these are not the purposes of education. But rather the instrumentalization of education in the service of frequently unspeakable objectives.
The purpose of education in this modern time is to accelerate people’s mindful progress. So that they can function in society. They can generate critical thoughts. Also, they can propose ideas or projects based on the common welfare. They become skilled enough to create a balanced society.
Learning is innate to the human being. Therefore, education is an essential process that is unstoppable and complex.

Education trains people free of thought, belief, and opinion. They become able to distinguish good from the bad. In an attempt, they get to share their knowledge with others.

I believe that every single child should be given the opportunity to go to school. In that way, they can learn to be self sufficient and reliant on themselves rather always on others- Literally, life without education is termed worthless, thus encouraging a regressing society which won’t suit our normal settings.

EDUCATING THE GIRL CHILD 📚🥰✍️

Empowering the girl child to have a better education is essential and so it’s my ultimate goal.

These girls comes to school without school bags and coming to school without a school and books is like going to a war field without a gun or bullet.
In trying to instill good manners into our girl child, we must endeavor in all ways to sensitive and encourage. And in so doing we must encourage them in all ways!!

I wouldn’t have been me today without the tireless support of my compassionate and visionary friends.

“A book is an umbrella, if you don’t open it then it has no use at all.”

CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE.....

We have a great opportunity to help shape the future.
And actually there’s nothing better in the world.

Because our children are our only real connection to the future and because they are the weakest, they come first in society.

This life is genuinely waiting for you to tackle it seriously with others and shape it according to the needs of humanity: sensible and worthy.

A country with children is a country with a future and hope. So giving the children the means to tackle and unlock their potentials is equivalent to helping them succeed.

Giving children life means is giving children a chance!

“I believe the only way we can use to change our country is through education, thus taking into consideration how regressed our beautiful country and continent has become over the past couple of years. THUMBS UP TO THE HARDWORKING GAMBIAN WOMEN 👍🇬🇲💪

The hardworking Gambian women! They woke up early in the morning each day leaving the kids and husbands in bed, running helter-skelter to get something for the family to be fed.

If hard work, commitment and dedication is what can make a person a millionaire, then all Gambian women would’ve been millionaires by today. Certainly, they will not only boast their family status but as far to boom our countries economy. Yet, The Gambia government gives a blind eye to these hardworking and dedicated women.

Recommendations: I’m not an entrepreneur nor have I ever attended an entrepreneurship workshop or familiarization workshop; thus, I think the government in particular or other NGO’s should put their houses in order to bring on mechanisms and ways of implementing small-scale businesses (micro-business) for these women.

Consequently, if that becomes a reality we’ll see The Gambia not only becomes a people’s favorite but rather be among the elite countries which are drastically developing economically.

Moreover, in my upcoming project framework, I’ll be taking a closer look at ways and means of supporting and empowering The Gambian women particularly on small-scale businesses. In this way, I’ll not only be a champion change-maker but a make-it-happen hero!

The Gambian women are the true epitome of heroism. So if you know you then you know, but if you tend to be beating about the bush pretending not to know then you’re doomed. I hope and pray that all Gambian women continue to wallow in the river of happiness, peace and tranquility.

Your suggestions and recommendations are highly welcome in this series. I’m still on the learning process.......

If you truly love the Gambian women, please give them a thumbs up 👍

If you want to master something, teach it. The more you teach, the better you learn. Teaching is a powerful tool to learning!

The children of Tanji Lower Basic School are passionate about the school garden project, and so they want to learn in a unique way! Teaching is a noble profession, thus teachers are the central focus in that process; the uniqueness and passage of knowledge need to move freely in a conducive environment. Literally, people will always tend to confuse the acquisition of knowledge to only take place within the four corners of the classroom, but rather I’ll always reiterate that learning takes places even more faster in an open environment as it encourages the exchange of ideas and thoughts!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FROM TANJI GIRL POWER CLUB ❤️💪🇬🇲

The greatest feeling of love is when you love yourself and those around you!

Today, 14th February, 2021 the Tanji Girl Power Club converged in a joyous environment to once again celebrate the Valentine’s Day. Today just as any other day is Valentines Day for this glorious club, because our main aim and objectives is showing love, affection and understanding to one another.

The girls were all beautiful dressed together with their mentors ready to grace the occasion, and this year we have new inclusion of members who all gave great sentiments about the club and their desire to share their progressive words and feeling of love and understanding.

The day began with participants taking their delicious breakfast and lunch, then proceed with our annual activities which are poem reading, singing and dancing, words of THANKS to the founder, girls sharing from one another among other activities that took place!

In attendance was the deputy headmistress of the school and the head of the mentors who goes by the beautiful name of Mrs. Awa Bittaye and in her remarks she said, “ You are all girls in your teen age and growing rapidly, that is why we deemed it necessary bringing you all together to preach words of peace, understanding and collaboration into your ears. We hope by the end of the day you will all learn something very important from us and within yourselves.” she concludes.

Another person who spoke to girl was Mr. Momodou Lamin Colley who said, “ I will like to thank you all for taking up your precious time to come and grace this occasion with us. When we punctuate by saying LOVE it purposefully mean loving each other as students, loving your parents at home and then your teachers at school. The day (Valentines Day)should not be used to think about boyfriend/girlfriend but rather think about your friends, parents and classmates at school.” he remarkably concludes.

Another inspiring mentor who spoke to the girls was Mr. Momodou Jallow who said, we are all happy for your coming and we hope you’ll equally have fun with us today.

“Educating the girl child is like preparing for a fulfilling future for our nation.” Lamin Koopmans

In light of the above, we will like to seize this opportunity in thanking everyone who supported us in one way or the other in making this glorious day a success. Special thanks goes out to Mrs. Haddy Njie for all the relentless support for the club. Not also forgetting the ever ready and spirited mentors for their steadfastness in making sure that the girls will always see light within their paths. I will never and ever forget my ever reliant and positive colleague at work and sister in Mrs. Fatou Drammeh for her readiness in all activities. We are saying a BIG THANKS 🙏 💪❤️🇬🇲🍀

Earlier today, the founder and CEO of The Gambian Girl Power Club Mrs. Haddy Njie visited Tanji Lower Basic School and the girl power club of the aforementioned school. The visit generally was meant to visit the girls in the club and their mentors ( teachers), hence the pandemic has been a huge bo***ge this academic year. Consequently, we were unable to host most of our programs on the timeline but we hope this year everything will spark-off well.

In her deliberation, she lamented that the girl child should be extra motivated to be able to acquire the prerequisite knowledge that paves a fulfilling life. As young girls growing up and would one day become leaders, it’s very vital to start taking up responsibilities so as to start rolling on the line.

On her final statements, she advised the girls to be respectful to their teachers and parents if they want to succeed in their life.

“ The girl child should be given the right platform in order to be able to showcase their academic excellence.”
