Food industry training designed and led by employers, for employers. Walter Smith won a bid for the Employer Leadership Project and receives investment from UKCES.

It is effectively going to create a network of like-minded small and medium sized food businesses and has been designed to:

1. Help arrest the decline of the high street by seeking to pass on the traditional craft or ‘mastery’ skills of artisan food retailers, such as butchers, bakers and fishmongers, before the current ‘masters’ of the crafts retire and their skills lost.

If Friday's post didn't get you excited about the Crosby Management Training (CMT) Apprentice Residential, this one will!
These photos capture the fun of team building! Tutors at CMT took the Aubrey Allen, Gog Magog Hills Farm Shop, and Walter Smith Butchers apprentices Gorge Walking along Afon Ddu in Snowdonia on day 2; a challenging yet fun day. The apprentices loved being outdoors and pushing themselves to limits they never knew they could reach. Especially the inner City apprentices!
When they got back to the hotel, they were able to sit around the table and relax, have some dinner and review the day.
On day 3, the apprentices were able to see how award winning butcher shop Edwards of Conwy operate. It was interesting for them to see that not all butchers shops are the same and that there are some truly outstanding ones.
This residential is not just for butchery apprentices, CMT even took along HR apprentices proving that it is essential for different departments to mingle and helps create a great relationship across the company.
