Subscribe to Andreas posts etc... I really appreciate the benefits of how diet can change your whole life for the better. Having a food intolerance played havoc with my innards from the age of 15 until I was around 28 (I'm 50 this year). Eczema (my face used to get stuck to my pillow, IBS, reflux, wind, agonising pain when eating. My weight dropped to almost 7 stone. The doctors were useless, and blamed it on being 'highly strung'. I was intolerant to dairy, wheat and a load of other stuff. A book called 'Cooking without' was my saviour at the time. I've since learnt to listen to my body and know when to make I'm now a healthy weight, and pain free...but am always looking to change up my ways of thinking about food and get out of my rut...and I've been doing this since 2005.

If any of you are thinking that this sounds like hard work, just take my advice, make the swaps, beat the cravings for sugar. A bit of planning and experimentation is all it takes. It will transform your life.

My uncle died from bowel cancer, it was fast and aggressive. I know that could have been me too. At the time I didn't have Andrea to guide me, but you do, and now so do I.

I recently completed Andrea's 'Nourished on Raw' programme. I was having great difficulties with sugar cravings before I started the program, and eating far too many sugary foods. Consequently, my weight had increased. I chose Andrea because I had done some of her workshops before and always thoroughly enjoyed them. She is a terrific role model. I got so many tips from Andrea, especially during the coaching sessions. e.g. having some nuts/raisins/lindt chocolate on hand for when the cravings hit.
The coaching sessions were really excellent. They covered a multitude. I loved the clarity of the programme. The content was so well laid-out and easy to follow and the recipes are brilliant! I feel much more on top of the sugar cravings now. It was a great experience and hugely enjoyable. I was given so many practical tips to help, not just in my diet, but in other areas of my life. e.g. the visualisation technique I can use if I am fed up of cooking meat etc. for my other half. Also, the anti-fatigue mats Andrea suggested for my sore feet are just AWESOME! Thank you so much for that Andrea. I would wholeheartedly recommend this program to others. Andrea is a wonderful coach, and will do her very best to help with any issues in anyone's life.

Loved reading your post about your journey I’m trying to find a new healthier me lost two stone but with food intolerances Menoause and being a full time carer for my dad it’s stressful finding the time to sort my diet out probably and sugar cravings and bloating is something I can so relate to any advice on healthy diet I’m always open to 😊🌻

Good Carbs, Bad Carbs — How to Make the Right Choices

People have been stock piling pasta, obviously because it's a dry form of carbs they can store, but are now are panicking that it's running out. But please look at other sources to stay healthy and get a balance, and remember there are GOOD and BAD CARBS. Some of the below are long life too, like nuts, seeds, legumes, and you can cook batches of foods and use your freezer. There are plenty of healthy and simple bread, bake and soup recipes online! People are also stocking a lot of bad, sugary carbs which will cause inflammation and compromise your immune system. Here's a run down from Healthline of good and bad carbs:

Good Carbs:
Vegetables: All of them. It is best to eat a variety of vegetables every day.
Whole fruits: Apples, bananas, strawberries, etc.
Legumes: Lentils, kidney beans, peas, etc.
Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, etc.
Seeds: Chia seeds, pumpkin seeds.
Whole grains: Choose grains that are truly whole, as in pure oats, quinoa, brown rice, etc.
Tubers: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.
People who are trying to restrict carbohydrates need to be careful with the whole grains, legumes, tubers and high-sugar fruit.

Bad Carbs:
Sugary drinks: Coca cola, Pepsi, Vitaminwater, etc. Sugary drinks are some of the unhealthiest things you can put into your body.
Fruit juices: Unfortunately, fruit juices may have similar metabolic effects as sugar-sweetened beverages.
White bread: These are refined carbohydrates that are low in essential nutrients and bad for metabolic health. This applies to most commercially available breads.
Pastries, cookies and cakes: These tend to be very high in sugar and refined wheat.
Ice cream: Most types of ice cream are very high in sugar, although there are exceptions.
Candies and chocolates: If you’re going to eat chocolate, choose quality dark chocolate.
French fries and potato chips: Whole potatoes are healthy, but french fries and potato chips are not.

The Nut Bar

I’m so proud and happy to be opening The Nut Bar, which I believe will be Wolverhampton’s first zero-waste whole food store, based in Bilston Indoor Retail Market!

Opening on July 11th 2019, coinciding with International Raw Food Day, The Nut Bar forms part of a big passion of mine to share the benefits of whole and raw food eating.

All products at The Nut Bar are sold by the scoop/kilo and range from quality nuts, seeds and dried fruits, to cereals, grains, beans and pulses at great prices. Open days are Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays.

To help reduce single-use plastic bags and packaging, we provide paper bags, from a sustainable source, for our customers to fill with whatever amount they want, and will also be encouraging people to bring their own containers and jars to refill at the stall if they wish.

I’m Andrea Baines and I’ve been eating a mostly plant-based, high raw food diet for almost 10 years and have experienced massive benefits, not just to my health, but also to my energy levels and my well-being.

As a qualified Raw Food Coach, I taught hundreds of people in live classes when I lived in Ireland how to incorporate more plant foods into their diet in simple and delicious ways. And now I'm back in the Black Country I want to continue to share my healthy recipes and tips on this page and to my customers at The Nut Bar!

My Story

I’m Andrea Baines, and I'm a Raw Food Teacher, Certified Raw Food Coach and Holistic Therapist living in the West Midlands, UK.

After being diagnosed with an underactive thryoid in my mid-thirties I went on a journey to find a way to heal myself naturally.

It took me another 4 years to find raw food, and that’s when everything started to change for me.

I believe changing over to a high raw plant based diet is what helped me to heal my thyroid and enable me to come off medication, heal my skin from acne rosacea, stop my severe period pains and massively increase my energy levels!
