Very well done to all the effort and teamwork our cadets showed this weekend at the South West Area Drill Competition!
It was a huge effort to commit to so much training and preparation for the competition in such a small amount of time and you did your unit so proud!!
PO(SCC) Chloe Bennett
First Lieutenant
After a great effort from all our teams, the coach has now left HMS Raleigh and our cadets and volunteers are on their way home.
Whilst no placed positions in the competition categories, we are very proud of all our cadets effort, teamwork and conduct throughout the weekend.
A huge thank you to all instructors for their support in the training and preperation for the cadets and to the volunteers/ unit supporters in the logistics and enabling a great cadet experience.
Very proud DO!

It is with great pleasure to confirm that as of this afternoon I have been officially appointed as Commanding Officer of Wolverhampton Sea Cadets. This is temporary arrangement until a permanent replacement can be found however I will do my utmost to ensure that the unit continues with its high standards and it’s offerings to the Cadets.
On a personal note I have Known Matt for a number of years and have had the pleasure of working with him on a number of occasions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his efforts and dedication to the unit and the Staff and Cadets at Wolverhampton and for leaving me a unit that it is in good shape. I wish him well for the future and whatever that brings.
Lt(SCC) Dave White RNR
Tonight Wolverhampton Sea Cadets bids fairwell to our Officer in Charge Petty Officer (SCC) Matthew White.
After three years in command and a further two years as First Lieutenant PO White leaves the unit with a Capain's Commendation, four consecutive Burgees, the formation of our first ever Royal Marines Cadets Detachment, a second Junior Sea Cadet Section, almost double the number of cadets and work well underway to refurbish our existing building.
PO White had this to say,
"As you know I completed my own cadet journey at Wallsend Unit, in Northern Area. But it has been my time as an adult volunteer at Wolverhampton that I will look on most fondly and indeed TS Newfoundland has become and will always remain my home Unit.
It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Officer in Charge, HMS Newfoundland prided herself on her unofficial motto of "the best ship in the BPF" and I have absolutely no doubt that with continued hard work and dedication TS Newfoundland will soon be recognised as the best ship in the Sea Cadet Corps."
We would like to take this opportunity to publically thank PO White for his time, effort and commitment during the course of duties and wish him all the very best with his future endeavours and transfer to TS Vanguard.
Lieutenant (SCC) D White RNR will now assume to post of Commanding Officer of the Unit until such time as a permanent successor can be appointed.
Notice to adults
From Deputy Offshore Commander:
I just wanted to highlight an opportunity that might have been lost within the detail of the Offshore Poster.
P37 – is a CFAV only voyage – split down into two 2.5 day mini voyages to allow adults to understand the experience of sail training and get a good run ashore somewhere different, but without taking up yet another week. This is a trial as we use to offer a whole week, but struggled to fill a week’s programme on the power vessels for adults.
At the moment, the two min-voyages are significantly under subscribed. Travel is covered, but pay is not.
Voyages are live on Westminster now for bookings.
P37A - (Plymouth-Plymouth) CFAV Course from Sat 09-Sep-2023 to Tues 12-Sep-2023
8 x Spare Berths
P37B (Plymouth-Penzance) CFAV Course from Tues 12-Sep-2023 to Fri 15-Sep-2023
13x Spare Berths
This is a great opportunity for Adults to have a go on one of the Ships. I've booked for the Plymouth - Penzance voyage, Ray M.
Remember cadets, tonight is a make and mend session so remember your parade boots and numbers to work in this evening!

Are you doing Gold or Silver DofE?
Did you know you can complete your expedition offshore, on the yachts (TS Sir Stelios and TS City of London)?
The aim of this specific DofE sailing expedition is to provide an opportunity for cadets to complete the expedition element of their Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The two-week voyage will combine elements of training and learning about the vessel whilst conducting the practice phase of the expedition (1st week) and make plans and preparation for the qualifying expedition (2nd week).
Priority will be given to those aged between 15-18 year’s of age and who are registered as Duke of Edinburgh Scheme entrants.
Ideally participants should have completed the Day Skipper Theory course before the start of the voyage.
