Happy Father's Day😀

Little adventurers 1 children really enjoyed having their Daddies come for a stay and play this morning. They took part in various activities which were centered around the children's interest, including water play with turtles and ducks, playdough with tools and even dancing to some Motown music, as this is a favourite CD of ours. The Daddies even showed off their cool dance moves! The Dads were able to meet their child's friends and have a little play which was lovely. To have the Dads take part was great as it is important to us for the parents to be able to see that their little ones are happy and safe whilst at nursery, so to have this collaboration is key.

We hope you all enjoy your Father's day celebrations😀

Little learners 2 have been supporting world environment day and world Oceans' day this week. It is very important to us to look after our environment and all of the living creatures in it.

We spoke about our different roles in eco schools and how these roles help to care for our planet and environment. We painted a picture of planet earth and held a group discussion about what we could do to help keep our environment safe and clean. Some of the brilliant answers given were:
"Don't put rubbish on the floor"
" Help by picking up the rubbish and putting it in the bin so the World won't be sad"
"Make more air"
"We can walk or go on the bicycle, not the car".

Following on from this discussion, one of the children brought in a book from their home to share with us called 'clean up'. The story had a message about how their is too much litter in the ocean and how this endangers sea creatures but if we work as a team to help clean up our oceans, we can make a big difference. The children following on from this enjoyed taking part in a water activity where they had to take all of the rubbish out of the water and save the sea animals. Here's what they said:

"We need to help the animals so they don't die"
"Look I helped this dolphin swim"
"We need to get the rubbish out the sea"

The Little Learners 1 room have really enjoyed their new roleplay travel agents which they asked for during the children's council meeting. We have worked in collaboration with one of our parents who work at coop travel to enhance the area using brochures, posters and leaflets from the store. We have utilised these resources from another area within our society as we are community conscious. The impact of this child-centred area has been really positive in developing the children's vocabulary and imagination. They have really enjoyed looking at their own holiday photos on the 'review board' and have used their own experiences within their roleplay to book holidays, hand out tickets and pretending to be on the beach when digging in the sandpit. This area has been very popular amongst the children!!

Little Creators have taken a interest in the story "The teddy bears picnic". Hayley and Clara has extended the story into various different activities over the week to ensure this is child centered. The children have taken part in a mark making activity where they drew their very own teddy bear. In the home corner we used the pretend food and discussed which food we would like at our very own picnic. For snack the children have been working on their fine motor skills and had a attempt on cutting up some bananas for to add to their picnic. On Tuesday the children brought in their teddy and we had our very own picnic for tea.

Happy International Nurses Day from little adventurers one!

To celebrate the children have taken part in role play activities today where they were able to be both the nurse and the patient and took on the role to bandage up a patient, take temperatures and collect patient notes. We also had a table top activity set up of nurses, emergency vehicles, aswell as photo blocks of our local hospital and the hospital wards. We finished the day with a story all about the medical professionals that help us.

Sports day fun for crackerjacks children's trust!
Little adventurers one have had such a fun filled day. We started the morning with sports activities outside, these included a running race, egg and spoon race and obstacle courses which involved climbing, jumping and balancing. This afternoon the children enjoyed the 'ready, steady race' table top activity where they took part in car races with each other, shouting 'go!' as they pushed their car as fast as they could. Some children also made their very own medal, having a choice from bronze, silver or gold felts, gold and silver were definitely the favourites.

As we have now been rebranded to Your Coop Little Pioneers we were asked to resubmit our Eco Schools Green Flag award. Today we received confirmation that we have successfully achieved this again and they are really proud of the work we do with our children. Please see below their feedback that we are overjoyed with...
"It was wonderful to read that you have 2 adults supporting your Eco-Committee’s hard work. This is leading by example and it will help your Eco-Committee appreciate how important their Eco-Schools work is. It hints at a setting-wide approach to the Eco-Schools programme, which we love! It was also lovely to hear that your young members are so enthusiastic about their work! We love that completing your Environmental Review allowed you to see areas where you can improve and gave you plenty of ideas for creating positive impacts for your setting. We admire your commitment, demonstrated by tackling areas where you scored lowest in the Environmental Review. This shows you have an ambitious and assured Eco-Committee, which has no doubt inspired others with its work. The projects in your Action Plan are very relevant to the young children you work with; encouraging them to turn taps off and inspiring them to compost food waste are examples of perfect actions for engaging younger children. We love just how many children benefitted from your Eco-Schools work in their day-to-day curriculum. Your Curriculum Link examples are imaginative, varied and fun, making environmental education accessible and engaging, well done! Thank you for sharing a photograph of your Litter Pick. You have placed a lot of emphasis on informing as many members of your nursery community as possible in your Eco-Schools work, via social media and Iconnect for example, and this is a strength of your application. Your Eco-Board is full of practical information and inspirational photos; great work. Your greatest success is a brilliant achievement. It’s wonderful to read that your young children are supporting the eco-cause independently, encouraging others and even continuing their work at home. It’s clearly something that you are all very proud of and leaves a great legacy to build upon. We love your collaborative approach to creating an Eco-Code. This approach has allowed all of your children to take ownership and create a final code that will be treasured by everyone in your setting. It is a punchy and clear message, full of practical ways your young children can continue their Eco-Schools work. Well done! From the beginning of your Eco-Schools journey to the current day you have shown how the programme should be delivered in an Early Years setting, so we are delighted to award you an Eco-Schools Green Flag, congratulations! You are fantastic ambassadors of the Eco-Schools programme and should all be very proud of your work"
Well done to all our Eco Warriors!!

Little creators has been very busy this week! The children have been getting into the spirit for the King's Coronation celebration this weekend. The weekly story was The Penguin King. Over the course of the week we have given the children the opportunity to take part in various activities around the coronation. We started the week by creating our very own crowns using different materials of their choice. Tuesday the children made their own flags painting their interpretation of what they saw the union jack looks like. Wednesday we had some blocks red and blue coloured from the flag. Using the different building materials the children built how they thought the Big Ben and Buckingham palace looked. Thursday we spoke about King Charles on the stamp. Using the mirrors the children looked at themselves and drew what they saw to create their very own individual stamp. Some of the older children enjoyed a game of bingo with pictures relating to the King or the celebration. Friday was party day! We ate lots of yummy food and enjoyed some dancing.

This week in little learners 2 we have been celebrating King Charles' Coronation. The children have enjoyed looking at pictures of Buckingham palace and building the Kings castle with large and small wooden blocks both indoors and outdoors. The children have also enjoyed making their own flags, crowns and pictures of members of the Royal family. We also celebrated the Kings Coronation with numbers, shapes and letters activities.

Today the children enjoyed celebrating the coronation by playing some party games, dressing in blue, white and red and having a tea party. We also learnt how to do the royal wave and how to bow and courtesy.

*ECO SCHOOLS*
The Eco Warriors carried out a litter pick on the nursery car park. The children were shocked to see what they had found on the carpark. They found items such as bottles, McDonald's cups, straws, items of clothing and lots of tissue. Afterwards the children held a meeting to discuss litter and where we should be putting our rubbish. We then wrote down our findings on the eco meeting sheets and drew pictures of the rubbish we found.

Here is a message from the Eco Warriors and our Litter Legend:-

"We pick up the rubbish and put it in the right bins"

Fantastic work Eco Warriors!!!

Eid Celebrations in Little Learners 2.

We spoke about Muslims celebrating Ramadan by fasting which means that they do no eat throughout the day while the sun is up and having to wait until night time before they can eat or drink. We spoke about how this might make us feel if we had to do it, we then discussed that they wait until the new moon is visible before they can break their fast and celebrate Eid with their family with lots of different food.
The children have enjoyed making Binoculars to search for the new Full Moon ending Ramadan using paint to decorate.
We also enjoyed building Mosque Buildings using the blocks such as wooden and lego, we used a picture of a Mosque as a reference.
Little learners did really well with showing an understanding of Eid.

Photos from Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School Finchfield's post 17/04/2023

This afternoon the Little Learners 1 separated into small groups to carry out a task to build a mosque using different construction materials. The children had large wooden building blocks, lego blocks, small wooden blocks, mobilo and magnetic shapes. The children worked together as a team to build their structures, sharing ideas and using the picture of the mosque as a visual aid. We spoke to the children about Ramadan and how Eid is the celebration at the end of Ramadan which is happening this week.

This week in Little Creators 2 the children have really enjoyed getting into the Easter spirit.
We have learnt about the Easter story, the children then went on to make their own Easter cards for their families.
On Wednesday we made some Easter rice crispy cakes with Easter sprinkles on the top, the children showed great listening skills and were able to follow instructions.
On Thursday we held our Easter Bonnet competition, we had some fantastic entries!!

Photos from Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School Finchfield's post 06/04/2023

This week Little Creators has been in full force with Easter activities and fun. The children have enjoyed discussing the topic of Easter and eggs. The older children enjoyed looking at numbers and matching the eggs to the correct number on the table. In the tuff tray was an activity where the children had to fill the eggs using the tongs to pick up soil and pom poms to create their filling. During the week we spoke about the different animals associated with Easter such as rabbits, lambs and sheep. Thursday we had a Easter egg hunt in the room where the children had to find the eggs and fill Hayleys egg box for a treat. Over the week we have been reading our Easter stories where the children have been spotting the eggs. Wednesday we enjoyed seeing some of our parents come and join us for play and stay. Its been lovely to see the children in their Easter bonnets over the week and to see how crafty you all have been getting at home. HAPPY EASTER 🐣🐥🐑🍫
