This week in Preschool1 and 2 the children learnt all About Roald Dahl to celebrate his wonderful writing and amazing stories. The children enjoyed listening to the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' story. We spoke about how we get treats when we are good and kind to our friends. The children also enjoy creating their own Golden Tickets using gold paints and glitter. We also explored "James and the giant peach" They explored peach to taste and most of the children enjoyed it. We continued our Peach theme and made pictures using Peach's to make prints on paper. Another story: "George's Marvellous Medicine" The children enjoyed collecting herbs and leaves from the garden and making their own potions.. and also lots more of Roald Dahl stories!

Her Majesty The Queen

As you are aware Monday the 19th September has now been confirmed as a Bank Holiday, and that the plans have been announced for the State funeral of Her Majesty The Queen at 11am on that day. Nursery will be closed on this date to allow our colleagues to have time off and be able to watch the funeral in full- both the service, as well as the processions before and after and to join in this moment of national mourning and reflection of the life of Queen Elizabeth ll. On Sunday 18th September at 8pm, there will also be a minute’s silence for the Queen for the country to have a shared national moment of reflection.

The children in bf1 have taken a interest in the story called "The tiger who came to tea". Over the past couple of weeks the children have been familisering themselves with the story and are able to finish some of the sentences. We have created our own versions of a tiger using the colours orange and black. Some other children explored the open top table picnic with different types of tigers reacting the story and encouraging the tigers to eat everything they see. Clara did some exciting cooking with the children making some cupcakes for the tigers too.
Some questions the practiotners asked and answers given from various children.
Practitioner "Is the tiger big or little?" Avni big
"Shall we have the tea to nursery?"" Ariyah and avni says " yes."
What is the tiger eating?" Hugo " Chocolate."
Jenson points at the picture and says, " Daddy."
Practitioner says, " What's in the fridge?" Hanoor," bye, bye."
"What the tiger drinking"? "Tea" she responds. Noah "eat pears"

What an Emotional week it has been in Pre-School 1. We have been saying 'Goodbye' to a few children over the last month but this week was 'The One Where they all Left'. It is never easy to say our final farewells and some tears may have been shed but we send them all away, safe in the knowledge that they are prepared for their next journey. We have formed strong bonds with the Children and their families and we hope we have given them the strongest of foundations to build on as they go to 'Big School'
We have had a week of celebrations, making Pizza, Dancing to Music, Having water fights with balloons, Looking at pictures of Staff and Children as Babies and a final Fancy Dress Party to finish off the week. We have had a blast!!!
We hope you remember all the fun times we have all shared over the last few years and we wish you all the best for the future.

BF1 weekly roundup! Another week has past and we have been busy! Tuesday we celebrated a peers 3rd birthday and had some lovely cupcakes from her. In the week we have used the animals in 2 different ways. Firstly the children painted using their feet to make marks and secondly we explored water play with some loose parts. Following the crafty theme we have done some lovely picture sticking and gluing different materials whilst others painted a self portrait talking about different features. Some of the boy have been using different blocks to build various objects for the cars to be transported on. Have a good weekend and don't forget we are closed monday.

Butterflies one have been busy. We started the week making their own medals celebrating the common wealth games. The children choose weather they would like to have a bronze or silver medal. Later on in the week the children enjoyed getting crafty with some peg painting where some beautiful pictures was created. Hayley brought in some new dinosaur Lego which the children enjoyed exploring and building. Carrying on the building theme the children in the construction area made serval different towers using the tools. With the hot weather we have had lots of water play in the garden and then in the room. All activities have been carried out by the children's interest.

Yesterday in Pre-school 2, We have celebrated the Hindu and Sikh festival of Raksha Bandhan, which is celebrated to honour brotherhood and love. All of the children made their own Rakhi bracelets using different beads and thread. The children learned about why we gift bracelets to one another. We have danced to some traditional music and watched a short video explaining what the celebration means.

The NDNA campaign has launched to celebrate the early years sector and all they do to make the first five years of a child’s life count.
We are striving to:

1. increase understanding of the importance of early childhood education
2. better the perception of the early years workforce as educators of young children 0-5
3. address the recruitment and retention crisis
4. boost the positive feedback the workforce receives about their work
5. support the uptake of early years places within settings

Why do the ?

We know early years professionals understand how crucial the first five years are to the development and well-being of our youngest children. We’re reaching out to parents, carers, MPs, decision makers, employers and other educators to encourage everyone to understand how education in the first five years impacts a child’s future.

Please support us by liking and sharing our post along with the hashtag

This afternoon in caterpillar one the children have enjoyed looking through all of the booklets that represent each child and their family. Every booklet contains pictures which show what the capital of each Country is, a famous landmark in that country aswell as what they celebrate, what food they enjoy and what their national animal is. At the end of each booklet there are some everyday words in their home language. These booklets are a nice touch to our cosy area and the children love looking through them, a child even imitated some key words from the booklets when staff members were reading through them.

NRSG - 'Tree' 'wow' yummy'
SK - 'wow'
OB - 'maica' (Jamaica) 'ciao' 'aqua' 'ola'

What a fantastic week we have had joining in with the commonwealth games!

We have been super busy this week doing lots of sporty activities in the garden. Developing our physical skills by having our own commonwealth games; Bike races, running races and even egg and spoon races!

We managed to get the live broadcast of the cycling around Wolverhampton on our TV screen. The children really enjoyed watching the cyclists go around the track, applauding when they finished. They were amazed to recognise the park that we all know so well and even found it funny when they spotted McDonalds! We took this time to discuss different countries around the world and the children were excited to share where their relatives are from.

Today the children have decorated their own race track using the brightest colours we could find. We used this later on in the day to do races with our favourite vehicles; fire engines, race cars, diggers and our little Tesco delivery van.

Yesterday in Pre-School 2, the children showed an interest within the Commonwealth Games. The children talked about roads being closed and explaining that the Commonwealth Games were being held in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, discussing all the sporting activities taking place. The children enjoyed creating there own games, Such as Egg and Spoon races and also relay races.
The children all cheered for their friends and clapped even after the winner crossed the line. When we finished racing the children all made there own medals, Showing great understanding of the different colour medals for the different positions.
