I just want to say a really big thank you to saint training and the lovely Sheryl and Trevor and family for being such amazing people and training me for my sia badge you all was amazing and I’ve learnt so much off you all over this hard but amazing week thank you for believing in me and thank you for the great opportunities you have now given me I’m completely so happy thank you and your not just people I’ve had to train me your family..
Your background doesn’t mean nothing when you are faced with a serious situation... to be able to stay in control and do, what is vital... is the only key... too many times people have relied upon what they have been trained to do but this is in films, where the good *person’s* always steal the shots and walk away triumphant. Minor scrapes nothing vital but always victorious.
If you have embarked upon this journey with saints training, you will know that you have been given the opportunity to deal with any situation and access and address, and also upscale your skills to advancement... before you make the situations unsafe for colleagues and yourself.
Today is their day ... and please all join in the celebration to show our appreciation for what they have done for us...
Congratulations to you both Sheryl n Trevor
My review of saints training Sheryl what can I say !!! A truly inspirational woman who knows how to teach her stuff , no cutting corners straight to the point. It’s funny how they can be many sucurity officers but come on how many door supervisor today don’t receive proper training and loose there badges. Correct training means happy customers and happy employers and colleagues. I felt Sheryl training me trained me with quality not quantity. Really excellent teaching and I can’t wait to be enrolling on more. Anyone who as a interest in being a door supervisor contact saints training and ask for Sheryl your whole life will change !! Thanks again alishia Azizi

TO ALL DJ'S, DOOR STAFF, BAR STAFF, MANAGERS
INFO...

A DJ was approached while working by a young girl and asked for the first time, "Is Angela working tonight?" - having read about the #AskforAngela initiative He knew instantly what she was referencing, said yes, told her to jump in the DJ booth with him, (she was extremely nervous...) and in turn asked the nearest security guard the same question. Luckily, he too knew, and the young girl was escorted through the back of the venue and into a taxi immediately. Her "date" upon returning from the bathroom was asked to leave by management, he without delay turned violent and security stepped-in.

Basically, #AskforAngela is a scheme in place (established in the UK) which aims at reducing sexual violence and vulnerability by providing WOMEN and MEN with a subtle phrase to assist getting them out of potentially dangerous and helpless situations. First-dates, Tinder-dates or frankly getting home alone after a night out can unfortunately (history-proven) be a risk.

I urge all DJs, venues, those in hospitality/night-life to look into the concept and educate yourselves and your staff. It may seem extreme, but sometimes you may be someones only option,
Thanks & feel free to copy and paste to your wall

Changes to the training you need for an SIA licence

Changes to the training you need for an SIA licence What the changes are, when they will happen, and how they affect SIA licence applicants and licence holders.

28/06/2021

From October 2021, door supervisors and security guards will need to complete top-up training before they renew their licence
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has undertaken a review of the top-up training for door supervisors and security guards, which will be required before security licences can be renewed from October 2021.

The training will include key elements of the new content that the SIA is introducing to licence-linked qualifications in April 2021, so that licence holders have the same basic skills and knowledge as new entrants achieving the updated qualifications.

The number of practical elements in the training have also been increased to help learners reinforce their knowledge and ensure it is more robust. The practical assessments include: Searching, dealing with conflict, report/statement writing and using communications devices.

Expanded core learning common unit for all operatives includes:
Communication skills
Incident management
Health and Safety procedures
Citizens’ arrest
Protecting vulnerable people
Emergency procedures
Record keeping
COVID-19
Door supervisors

An emergency first aid at work qualification (required to take top-up training)
Use of equipment such as body worn video recorders, breathalysers and an increased array of Personal Protective Equipment such as stab vests, needle/slash resistant gloves.
Updated terror threat awareness
Physical intervention skills training (knowledge and practical)
Enhanced content on the management of crowds
Security guards

An emergency first aid at work qualification (required to take top-up training)
Additional content covering personal safety and the risks associated with physical intervention. This includes content on how to identify situations that might compromise personal safety and use of strategies like dynamic risk assessment. This does not include any practical physical intervention training
Updated terror threat awareness

The changes aim to improve the basic skills, knowledge and understanding of security operatives so that you can do your jobs more effectively. SainTs Training welcome top up training on physical intervention knowledge and skills as many security operatives have had no refresher training in this (or conflict management) despite this being an employers responsibility.

Undertaking training in the COVID-19 environment can be challenging, yet security operatives across a range of sectors and roles continue to experience conflict and violence. It is therefore vital that employers (both security companies and buyers of security services) refresh their knowledge and skills in handling conflict.

Important Information regarding ALL SECURITY( PLEASE READ BELOW)
New licence-linked qualifications
Background

We review the licence-linked qualifications every five years to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose and are relevant for the security industry in the years ahead.

Our aim is to improve the basic skills, knowledge and understanding of security operatives so that they can do their jobs more effectively, to improve community safety and help to protect the public in the UK.

A key element of our role as the regulator is to work with the industry to raise standards in private security. The new requirements will help achieve this.

Extensive engagement and consultation

Our review included an extensive programme of stakeholder engagement, including interviews and discussions with sector bodies, training providers, employers and learners and licence-holders. We set up expert working groups for each of the licensable sectors. We carried out three online consultations that received more than 5,000 responses.

An independent research company was commissioned to look at how the work of the private security industry has changed and how it may change in future. The research identified skills that are required now to manage risk to the public, and those that will be of increasing importance to underpinning industry change in the future.

We liaised with experts so that areas of the specifications that need particular input such as counter terrorism have the most up to date content.

The review also looked to ensure that there are robust assessment and quality assurance arrangements in place for the licence-linked qualifications. This will better assure us of the integrity of the qualifications and help us to reduce instances of training malpractice.
New licence-linked qualifications

On 1 April 2021 we are introducing new licence–linked qualifications that will better equip operatives to work in the private security industry. The new qualifications will give a more robust foundation of skills and knowledge and reflect what we have learned from extensive industry consultation and engagement.

They will be in line with current private security industry working practice; help manage new risks and reflect changes caused by new technology. As most job roles will demand greater responsibility and skill operatives need to be equipped to deal with the challenges to come.

A good example of this is first aid training; research and industry feedback highlighted a strong need for security operatives to have knowledge of first aid, especially in emergency situations where they are likely to be the closest to an incident.

Training content that was considered of vital importance to all sectors was moved to the ‘common unit’ (taken by all security operatives) to allow sector specific content to be covered.

The up-to-date Terror Threat Awareness, has been standardised so that all sectors have the same up to date content.

We have increased the number of practical elements in the training to help learners reinforce their knowledge and ensure it is more robust. The practical assessments include: Searching, dealing with conflict, report/statement writing and using communications devices.

Summary of the changes

First aid

From April 2021 new applicants will need to complete an, Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, or equivalent, before taking the required training needed for a licence (except for Close Protection and Cash and Valuables in Transit licences).

We will accept a higher-level or equivalent First Aid qualifications such as First Aid at Work (FAW), First Person on Scene (FPOS) and First Response Emergency Care (FREC) if it complies with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive.

Top-up training for Door Supervisors and Security Guards

The top-up training for door supervisors and security guards will include key elements of the new content that we are introducing to licence-linked qualifications in April 2021.

We have developed top-up training to make sure current Door Supervisor and Security Guarding licence holders have the same basic skills and knowledge as new entrants achieving the updated qualifications.

From October 2021, door supervisors and security guards will need to complete top-up training before they renew their licence.

Emergency First Aid at Work training or equivalent will need to be completed before top-up training.
New topics included in the licence-linked qualifications

Expanded common unit (core learning for all operatives)
Communication skills
Incident management
Health and Safety procedures
Citizens’ arrest

This includes content on how to identify situations that might compromise personal safety and use of strategies like dynamic risk assessment.
