Are you disappointed with your child’s science mock? Are you concerned about their progress in science?

Do you want to ensure they can attain high enough grades to be accepted onto the triple science course?

Are you concerned they may struggle when they get to GCSEs because of a lack of science specialists in school?

We have a new Key Stage 3 / Foundation GCSE Science group on Saturday mornings at 11am. The group is with a qualified teacher (science specialist) with DBS. Classes are held on Zoom and groups are kept small to increase one to one attention during the lesson. The course runs term time only and costs between £20-£22.50 per lesson, depending on numbers - we like to pass a saving onto parents once the group fills up 😁

Our groups are nurturing and learner-focused, adapting to the needs of the students we have in front of us. Students in our groups have made exceptional progress, with their knowledge, scientific skills and (most importantly) their confidence!

Contact me now to book on as spaces are limited! 😊

* This course is suitable for foundation GCSE students who would benefit from revising KS3 content (Grade 4 and below). GCSE students will have the opportunity to move up to our higher GCSE group. We will not cap your child’s progress ⛰️

📚 Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick thought on why revising for GCSEs early is so beneficial.

⏰ Starting early with your revision can truly make a difference when it comes to achieving success! 🎯

🔑 By beginning your revision early, you give yourself ample time to understand the concepts, master the skills, and build confidence in each subject.

📝 Early revision allows you to break down the topics into manageable chunks, making it easier to absorb and retain information. It also gives you the opportunity to address any areas of weakness and seek help or clarification from teachers, tutors or peers. 📚

⭐️ Moreover, revising early helps reduce the stress and pressure that often comes with last-minute cramming. It allows you to maintain a balanced timetable, ensuring you have time for rest, relaxation, and other activities, which in turn enhances your overall well-being. 🌟

💡 So, Year 10 and 11, let's make a commitment to start revising for our GCSEs early. Let's set ourselves up for success by embracing a disciplined and consistent approach to our studies. Remember, every step counts towards achieving our goals! Good luck to everyone! 🌈

🚀 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … The GCSE Boosters have lift off!

That’s it - no more waiting - science boosters are good to go for the Summer 2024 exams. They are planned and ready and they are going to be even better than last year’s (where everyone got a 7 or above, I might add)!

🌟 So … are you in???? Times and days are below - do not miss out! We like to give individual attention and support your child with their confidence so these are not webinars - they are small group tuition sessions, held online, with an examiner, qualified science teacher of ten years plus and mental health champion. My Google reviews are from this course and you will see we the learning is personalised, yet exam focussed. It’s not to be missed. I have also kept pricing the same as last year, appreciating that times are tough 🙏🏼

🧮 Maths boosters are also on their way - I’m currently finalising the details. Please do join the waiting list if interested - I will offer spaces in order of the list.

👩‍🎓 These are all daytime courses, suitable for any children not attending school full time who need a little boost in confidence before the exams. However, if your child is in mainstream school and you’d like them to have a chance at experiencing our boosters - please do get in touch. We have recently increased our evening offering and would love to help your child succeed.

Message through the page to book.

☃️ Brrrrrr! It’s cold! ⛄️

We are definitely in December now but still three weeks of left of term and lots more learning to do!

How was your first December weekend? Have you ticked off any traditions yet? We went to church for the Christmas Tree Festival and loved seeing the trees (all amazing!) and my little one saw Santa in his grotto - my eldest said she’s too grown up 😩 Enjoy them while they’re little!

Let me know what you got up to ❄️🎄

Today is a special day! 🥂

One year ago, I registered my business with HMRC, with no real idea whether it would take off or not, or if I’d even be very good at it! 😳

Fast forward ⏩ to now!
I have worked with tens of young people, helping them to secure their futures. Many of whom, have been with me for most of the year, or have passed their siblings onto me. I have been made to feel like part of the family! 💕 I have other tutors providing services to our students too - increasing our offering - expanding to evenings, weekends and subjects I can’t personally offer. I’m very proud of the tutors on the team and the fantastic work they do! 🤩

Our ethos is to be completely child focused and to ensure that we adapt to what we have in front of us. We do care about progress and exam success, but we don’t have to follow a set plan and make your child fit in a box. We are more fluid and compassionate in our approach and it works! 🥰

I’ve also spent the year doing lots of training - safeguarding, safer recruitment, trauma informed practice to name a few. I’ve learnt a lot more ‘on the job’. 🤓

It’s not been an easy year - lots of hard work behind the scenes but it has been so rewarding. I’ve met wonderful tutor friends who have shared their experiences and expertise so generously 🤝 I’ve been to every school event my kids have had - wow - a job that’s flexible and allows me to be a mum!!! 🎄⛹️ I have met wonderful families and supported my local community, as well as students from all over the country! I’ve recorded a podcast, given a talk about stars! I have achieved so much more in one year than I ever thought I could.

There are so many plans for Year 2 (but that’s another post)! I hope we continue on this journey and grow our A+ Tutoring Family, helping so many others to achieve their dreams along the way! 🌈

🙏🏼 Thank you to every single person who has supported us (me!) - every like, comment, share, recommendation, chat when I’ve been ready to throw the towel in! I could not have done this without you ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Look at what our amazing students achieve! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌈 From very little confidence in science in September to top of the class and ‘a bonding wizz’ by November!! Well done I 🎉👏🤩 We were overjoyed to hear of your chemistry success!

🎉 Another big shout out to Kitty, our amazing evening group STEM tutor. The positive feedback coming in weekly from Kitty’s groups is rather overwhelming!

💭 Do you want to follow in I’s shoes and progress quickly in science or maths? Why not join one of Kitty’s groups? Or maybe you can make the difference to a child’s education that Kitty does every week? Would you like to be a part of our team? Why not get in touch?

29/11/2023

Are you taking iGCSE physics in the summer? I am here to help you achieve the best grade you possibly can.

Last year’s exam-focussed boosters were such a success that I have decided to run them again, but this year, we’re starting even earlier so we can cover more content and exam skills and do even better!

Would you like to join our supportive, informative groups full of plenty of exam practice and explanations of all the tricky topics? All explained by me, an iGCSE physics specialist, qualified teacher, physics graduate and examiner!

Doing a different exam board but still need physics help? That’s fine - I have a solution for you. Need help with Chemistry, Biology or Maths? I also do exam boosters in these subjects.

There are only 8 spaces for each subject so register your interest now by sending me a message and I will send you further information.

I look forward to being a part of your physics iGCSE success!

28/11/2023

🎄You are invited! 🎄

A+ Tutoring Services are taking part in Streetly Christmas Tree Festival 2023! Will you come and join us and maybe even vote for our tree? (There may be a little something under the tree to tempt you?!) 😋

I will be there with my family on Friday so come and introduce yourself, if you see us! I’ll be happy to answer any of your tuition (or physics!) questions.

The festival is the real start of the festivities for us so we can’t wait. Can’t wait to see you there!

28/11/2023

November exams are now over! Huge congratulations to our students who have worked extremely hard in preparation for their exams. We know it will pay off! One of our students walked out of iGCSE Physics Paper 2 on Wednesday saying, “I really enjoyed that!” 😆🤣

Hello parents!

YOU ASKED! We are delivering!!! A great deal offering you £5 off any of our ONE TO ONE LESSONS or our many group trials! So much choice!!

One to ones are very limited but we still have a slot for English GCSE, English A Level and Maths KS3. Who wants one?

We have availability in groups for GCSE level in maths, chemistry, physics and combined science and also science at KS3. We also have waiting lists for our revision boosters, starting December!

Be quick - this is our last deal! Remember all deals expire at the end of the day so make sure you enquire today with your code of choice)!

23/11/2023

How do we progress students online?

We offer plenty of opportunity for independent work, where students can annotate the screen. We assess what support and scaffolding the individual needs and adapt, on the spot, to ensure progress is made.

We slowly increase the level of difficulty, reassuring and building confidence as we go. We slowly take support and structure away until the student can produce work at the level they need.

In one hour, we went from supporting how to set out a simple equation and working out units, to unit conversions within questions to much more complex examples that this student totally handled! This is a student who has very little confidence in physics but who is absolutely awesome!! (One day soon she WILL believe me!) ⭐️🤩⭐️ Well done D for your amazing work! 😎

23/11/2023

Time for DEAL #4!

Perfect for anyone taking GCSEs in 2024 but that does not go to school full time. A new physics GCSE booster group is planned for December. Suitable for all boards (I’m experienced and can adapt to all).

Message me to book on and remember to use the code for a fabulous discount throughout December 🙌⭐️☝️

22/11/2023

Our science groups support GCSE students to progress quickly and prepare for the exam. We hold our classes on Zoom, with up to 8 students per call, to allow lots of opportunity for individual attention. We also share resources for extra practice and offer feedback to parents monthly.

Lessons are with a qualified science teacher with DBS and years of tutoring experience.

Message me to book your child on to a trial either this week or next and don’t forget to quote the code!

(Terms apply, deal is limited.)

21/11/2023

Good luck again to our iGCSE physicists who have their paper 2 tomorrow 🍀

Mission accepted! 👩‍🚀 🚀

It was a pleasure to meet the Blossom girls tonight and teach them that they are all stars, they’re made of star dust and they have formed their own galaxy of awesomeness!! 🌸✨ What a clever and compassionate bunch they are!

Thank you Hannah, Sam and team at Cherished for inviting me to come in and speak about stars and Blossoms for making me and Rio so welcome 🤗

For anyone in the local area, please do pop over to Cherished’s page and see what they do for our community 🥰

20/11/2023

📣 Exciting Black Friday News!! 📣

It’s our very first Black Friday and we’ve been in business for almost a year so as a celebration, I have arranged a week of offers for what seems, this year at least, to be a Black Friday Week!

Like, follow and share with your groups and friends to make sure nobody misses out. These offers will only be available for a limited time and for a limited number of people (we only have so many places left).

Join in the fun and see what’s in store next week!

16/11/2023

Is your child struggling in maths? Are you worried they won’t pass? Is it looking unlikely they’ll get a Grade 4?

It can be frustrating when a college course doesn’t accept you because you’ve not quite passed Maths at GCSE. Students may need to do a level 2 qualification in Maths alongside their course, or even may have to resist / do an extra year.

We can support your child and build their confidence in Maths with our new maths GCSE group - aimed at those hoping to achieve a Grade 4 in Year 11. It is an exam focused group - going over key concepts. Groups are small - no more than 8 - and are really supportive.

We only use qualified teachers and all tutors are DBS checked.

Lessons cost £22.50 per class (2023-2024 prices) term time only. We only have 8 spaces so message me straight away to book on and avoid disappointment.

15/11/2023

Good luck to our wonderful iGCSE physicists who have their paper 1 tomorrow morning 🍀

Last minute tips:

1) Read the question - underline and circle command words, variables and key information.

2) Use equations - I can’t say this enough - they are your ‘cheat sheet’. Use them in calculations, explanations, to form methods, to explain graphs, to work out what a gradient is telling you, to work out units you’ve forgotten - they are your tool!

3) Use key words!! No synonyms, metaphors or fluffy language. Use the terminology you’ve been taught - I gave you those words for a reason!

4) Plan longer answers. Anything 4 marks or above needs a little plan so you can organise your argument well.

5) Don’t leave any question blank. Watch your timing (a minute per mark) and put something for each mark available.

Go get em girls!

15/11/2023

Hello! We are back!

Well done to the GCSE Maths group students who did very well with Kitty last night!

This course is designed for home educated students but international students and EOTAS and in roll students are also welcome.

Boosters were very successful last year with every child that completed the course gaining at least a pass (grade 4), others higher. We do lots of exam practice to get you prepared for those exams.

Would you like to join us? Spaces are limited and will be given on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is happening now!

Fantastic iGCSE chemistry work by O today!

Can you believe he only started the course in September?! Ionic bonding will be easy with this as his foundation 😁

09/11/2023

How true is this? We live in a world of instant gratification but real success doesn’t come as easy as what we see. There is so much more to it than that.

I was sent this photo so I am not sure who to credit this to, my apologies.

It’s Wellness Wednesday! 🧘‍♀️

Today, on the school run, I noticed my favourite tree had the most beautiful burgundy leaves on it. Every time I pass the tree, it seems different, changing through the seasons. It really is a stunning tree all year round. It made me feel grateful that I see this tree everyday. This got me thinking…

As it’s Wednesday and the first week back, the weather is getting colder and people are feeling the pinch more this year, I would like to set a gratitude challenge for our students and anyone else that wants to join in.

I invite you to grab yourself a piece of paper (or your phone) and write down as many things you can think of that you’re grateful for this morning. Give yourself a time limit of 2 minutes. This is your list, you don’t need to share it. Hopefully, it will bring a great start to your day and make you feel good!

Boosters were very successful last year with every child that completed the course gaining at least a pass (grade 4), others higher.

Spaces available!

Our GCSE Combined Science evening group is going well, having recapped some of the basics in chemistry. Students are progressing and are becoming more confident in the subject. The group is moving onto physics, by request of the students, starting off with the energy topic.

We still have a few spaces available in this group. Classes are online and groups are small, following research recommendations for maximum learning outcomes for you child.

If you have a Year 9, 10 or 11 child wanting to make significant progress in science, please get in touch before the spaces fill up to avoid disappointment.

🎃 Happy Halloween everyone 🎃

What are your plans for the day?

I have a sore throat and a cold - booooooo 👻- but will try my best to do some nice things with the kids. We bought pumpkins yesterday but are decorating, rather than carving, to try to be more sustainable. It’s our first time not carving so let’s see how we go!

We might get some spooky tunes on and have a scary feast too. Looking forward to the trick or treaters in all their costumes coming to the house all sugared up 😂 Don’t forget to brush your teeth tonight kids!
