🌳Vrksasana (Tree Pose)
The key to getting the most out of this is really paying attention to every part of your body.
Start at the ground and feel where weight is concentrated on your standing foot. Now move up your standing leg and feel the muscles engaged with a micro-bend in your knee. Notice where your hips and pelvis are? Are they level and tucked under slightly or is one side sticking out?
Make sure your spine is straight and your shoulders and head continue along that straight line. You can also challenge yourself by changing the position of your arms or even closing your eyes.
Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana (Extended Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose)
It’s not easy, but this posture will help you notice where your weight is and help you make sure your hips are in line and your body is straight. If your hip is jutted out or your butt is too far back, you’ll lose your balance.
But when you get it right and can balance, you’ll see how your body should be aligned to stay strong. If reaching your toe is too challenging, you can still get the benefits of this pose by keeping your leg bent and holding on to your knee.

join me every Friday at 6:15pm on zoom to practice Yin Yoga! That’s right yin yoga will provide you physical grounding, a soothing and unmoving practice that is very restorative.
Focusing on a few asanas/poses in a passive state to bring more balance as you work on your ‘Yin energy.’ Yin is claiming energy within us, the opposite to the more energetic side of us the ‘Yang energy’. Both must be practice in equal quantity.

Downward facing dog or Adho Mukha Shvanasana, an inversion asana and a shoulder opener pose.
There are many variations to this posture so go head try and see what you like the most being in downward facing dog. This pose uses the strength of your arms and legs to fully and evenly stretch your spine. It stretches your hips, hamstrings, and calves as it strengthens your quadriceps and ankles. It opens your chest and shoulders and tones your arms and abdominals.

✨YOGA FOR NECK, SHOULDERS AND BACK✨
Many of us suffer neck, shoulders and back pain. This may be caused by a desk job and daily activities that involve repetitive forward bending, poor posture or the habit of holding your head in one position while reading a book or especially while using cell phones and using computers.
Yoga movement can relieve this pain by gently stretching and strengthening these areas.
Come and join me on your mat for gentle movement to realise stress and improve your posture.

Have you tried the wheel + yoga?
I’ve been working in the background on deepening my yoga practice and taking it a step forward with props like the wheel.
It has been truly fun using the wheel, and working on opening my chakras especially the crown, heart and throat chakras, in preparation for this year’s mahashivratri.
At first I was a little sceptical and judging the wheel before actually trying it, now I defo recommend it 💜
I initially used the wheel to stretch my neck and shoulders, gradually developing more ways to get into asanas/poses and found it so good to stretch these areas and especially my back. It definitely releases all tension from the spine !
The wheel is a great prop to use to improve back bends, support shoulder stands and hip opening asanas. 💪🙏🏽☸️🧘♀️
