This activity is a fun way to develop early writing skills, as when children see adults writing they perceive that writing is important. This creates an inspiration to be a writer and to be part of this fascinating world of writing and reading!
By writing your lists together, your child will see how spoken words are converted to written words and will imitate what you are doing. This is an important element of creating a desire to write for a purpose.

The children have enjoyed joining in with creative cooks and making their own wraps for tea. This activity encouraged the children to talk about the foods they eat and eating foods that are healthy for them. Once they had made their wraps they were keen to eat them!

This week the children have been keen to watch the scaffolding being put up in preparation for our re-decoration. This prompted the children to dress up as builders and role play 'fixing things'. The children talked about the noises they could hear when the workmen used different tools.

This week the children have been exploring colours using paint. They collected a variety of natural resources from the garden and used these to mix the paints and make marks. The children extended the activity by using the leaves to print. This provided the children with the opportunity to make marks on a large scale.

On Wednesday 17th July we held our Graduation for our Preschool leavers who will be starting school in September. It was a lovely afternoon celebrating the children who have been with us for a long period of time and it has been a priviledge being able to watch the children learn and grow during their time here at Bright Horizons. We also had a very sepcial visit from our health and safety mascot, CandyFloss! The children wrote a letter to him a few weeks ago inviting him to the graduation so they were all very excited when he ariived! CandyFloss then wrote a letter back to the children to thank them for inviting him and wishing them lots of luck at school.

As part of our Foundation day the babies and children have been scoring lots of goals against CandyFloss throughout the day. Our aim was to score 100 goals and raise money for the foundation to support the opening of a Bright Space. We are pleased to say we reached our target of 100 goals!!

As part of our 'Ready for School' the preschool children that will be transitiong into school in September have been developing their independence and self help skills. One of the activities that the children have particularly enjoyed is being able to take their shoes and socks off and putting them back on again! This supports the children's independence and builds their confidence. They were all very proud of themselevs and enjoyed sharing their success with each other!
