Parent & Community Advisory Board (PCAB)
Monday 26th May at 4pm
To our local community,
I would like to invite you to our Summer PCAB meeting at Wishmore Cross Academy. Our vision remains to continue to transform our school to provide young men from 9-16 years old with social, emotional and mental health issues, into an exceptional educational setting that is able to meet their needs.
It's our aim that all of our pupils are able to transition to adult life skilled, content and successful. It's important that we raise awareness of the school’s mission and work with our parents, local community to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils.
The school is continuing to build a Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB) that will meet once every half term and we would love to have your support, participation and opinions. The PCAB will meet to discuss current events at the school and create opportunities within the local community to support our pupils and the school’s development. This meeting will be a perfect opportunity to explain all the remarkable achievements our school community has completed and our aims as we move forward.
I very much hope that you can attend and look forward to meeting with you.
Best wishes,
Gareth Howells

Look what arrived today, Easter Egg donations from some wonderful people. Thank you 🐣
Easter Egg Hunt - I am looking for some donation's to enable all pupils at Wishmore Cross Academy to receive some small eggs for an Easter Egg Hunt. As you may be aware Wishmore Cross Academy is a special school for up to 80 boys aged 9 to 16 years with social, emotional and mental health needs as their primary need. Unfortunately, many of our pupils, through no fault of their own, miss out on what makes the holidays reassuring, fulfilling and joyful for the rest of us.
We are all lucky enough to take for granted emotional support, security, a sense of wellness and a little luxury; yet for our pupils some or even all of these elements are missing from their childhood.
Whilst Wishmore Cross Academy is an educational provision that puts learning at the forefront of our minds, we firmly believe that a holistic approach provides a firmer grounding for our pupils, aiding both learning and an emotional sense of worth. We seek to provide experiences that these children may otherwise miss out on, including how they experience the holidays such as Easter.
Being an incredibly small school means that in order to fulfil these aims, we need additional outside support. If you are able to make a donation to allow us to create the Easter fun for our children that all of us deserve and that we take as a given.
Please message if you can support us, thank you.
We greatly appreciate your donation towards providing each and every pupil the enjoyment that Easter can bring. For some this may be the only Easter egg they receive.
It is with great sadness that we are writing to say that our longest serving caretaker Graham Thornton sadly passed away last week, our thoughts are with his family.
He will be greatly missed by all. ❤️
Some of the staff and pupils of Wishmore Cross Academy took part in “The Big Walk” for Shelter last December to fight homelessness & unite against the housing emergency, we raised £130.00. Thousands of people across the UK are going the distance this winter. It's been a difficult time & things have really hit home. The donations shelter receives will do incredible things from supporting people whose jobs & homes are under threat to campaigning for a stronger safety net for everyone. The money raised will help Shelter campaign to end rough sleeping, build more social homes & protect renters who face discrimination and eviction: £10 could pay for two webchats of online support and advice. £20 could pay for two calls through our emergency helpline. £80 could pay for two face-to-face advice sessions. £120 could pay for a legal advice session for someone facing housing problems. £150 could help someone keep their home resolving a complex housing issue for them. Thank you for making a big difference!

I'm fundraising for The Big Walk 2020. I’m taking part in The Big Walk to raise funds for Shelter this December.
If Christmas is hard,
If you’ve lost someone dear.
Just look in your heart,
And you’ll know they’re still here.
The star in the sky,
The light falling snow.
The robin outside,
It seems like they know.
If this is a time,
When you’re struggling through.
Just do what you can,
For what matters, is you.
There’s no need to be merry,
There’s no need to bright.
Just do what you can,
It will all be alright.
