*********** Desperately Seeking **************

* Do you have any outgrown/no longer needed Christmas jumpers?

* Are you having a Lockdown 2 sort out?

I am desperately looking for any children's Christmas jumpers suitable from nursery - high school aged children (so from age 2 - small/medium adult sizes).

Christmas jumper day is coming up in December and may be one of the only things the kids can continue to take part in. These can be expensive and sometimes worn only a couple of times so let's help out pockets and landfill by passing along :).

If you have any that you would kindly like to donate please drop into the donation box outside (happy to send address via messenger) or drop into the Community Grocery.

All donations have to be quarentined before I can offer them back out so the sooner the better.

Let's make sure ALL children can wear a Christmas jumper this year.

Thank you 🎄🎅

I should have now messaged everybody to let them know they can collect.

* All items will be in a bag with your name on.

* All collection in the box marked 'collection'.

* If your dropping off please leave in the 'donation' box.

* All bags will stay in the 'collection' box for 1 week before being returned to storage

There is no need to knock, just take when your passing and please close the gate.

***** There is never a charge for items, IF you want to make a donation, WDFC boot room are collecting new toys for the Salvation Army Appeal (am happy to hand over) OR pop something in the Foodbank trolly in any supermarket next time your shopping. *****

11am doorstep silence for Rememberance Sunday today. My daughters are usually parading with Girl Guiding, due to Covid Restrictions we will be observing the silence on our doorstep together.

Please pay your respects safely and socially distanced, however you chose to pay them. Do not attend the Town Centre Rememberance unless you were one of the few invited.

********************************************

Please see below for Winsford Town Council press release for Remembrance Sunday – Please note plans might change due to Government guidelines

WINSFORD REMEMBERS 2020

WINSFORD will see a much-changed Remembrance Sunday service as the town seeks to go on during the ongoing pandemic.
Due to regulations in place to protect people, the annual Remembrance Sunday event in Winsford town centre will be a much smaller event.

Winsford Town Mayor Cllr Don Beckett will lead the service, supported by his Chaplain the Rev Chris Moore of St Chads Church and members of the Royal British Legion.

In addition, a small number of organisations – including representatives from the Services – will lay wreaths at the town’s war memorials.

The Town Council is urging the public to stay away from the event, especially as it will take place during the second national lockdown as announced on 31st October 2020. The service will be streamed live via Facebook on the Town Council’s page.

Cllr Beckett commented, “due to the current restrictions, we cannot have our usual event in the town where we commemorate those who have fallen. We are naturally very disappointed about that, but we hope that people understand our desire to keep everyone as safe as possible”.

He continued, “we will therefore be holding a very small event – with no more than 30 people as per the regulations – by the town’s war memorials and we will allow those who cannot attend to follow the service on Facebook”.

Cllr Beckett concluded by issuing a plea from the Town Council, “we ask people to keep away from the shopping centre on the day – please stay at home”.

To supplement the service, the Town Council is putting further initiatives in place to commemorate those from the town who fought and died in wars of the past.

The Council will be putting large poppies on lampposts in the town and is planning to light up Town Park in red as a mark of respect for Remembrance.

Town Clerk Mark Bailey said, “this is such a difficult time for everyone and we have tried everything we can to make this important event as close to normal as possible. Sadly, we have been unable to do this and – although we ask the public to stay away in person – we hope that as many people as possible will watch the proceedings via our page”.

What is one thing that you cannot afford but NEED right now.

What do you have that you can OFFER now? Somebody else might need it.

Lets see what others say, maybe you have it & don’t need it can pass it on to them or have a connection to get it.

Please post below.....

I saw this on another community group & it was amazing to see the kindness & generosity especially this time of year so let’s carry it on
Maybe we can all help each other again, together we can get though this.

No SELLING this is a giving post.

Based on the amazing Winford scarecrow trail we are now going to launch the Winsford Winter Wonderland Community Group so people can either:

1) Make a festive scarecrow based on Christmas film characters or anything festive including the Nativity

2) Decorate your front door or gateways as Christmassy as you can

This isn’t a competition just something to bring loads of festive cheer! We will make a map so people can follow the trail.

Post your photos in here and include a street name please.

Starts from now until 2nd January 🎅🏻

Winsford Community Grocery

Are you looking for something to do over Halloween weekend with the kids? How about a spooky scarecrow hunt around Winsford?

A lot of talented local people have been creating scarecrows to go outside their houses for a scarecrow competition set up by Sharon O’Brien and Helen-Clare Scanlan. I’ve collated all the streets and made a map so that people can go and check them out.

See how many you and your family can spot over the weekend – it’s fun and free family time with plenty of fresh air and exercise thrown in.

If you don’t have a printer at home, you can collect printed out maps from Allan Sheen’s Sewing Machines shop on the Old High Street. They’re open today and Saturday 10am-3pm.

Please make sure children are with a responsible adult and are extra safe crossing roads, but most of all… have lots of fun.

Finding an alternative way to have fun on Halloween at home can be fun. Lots of ideas on the page if you scroll down.

Halloween isn't cancelled or banned....just different this year. 🎃👹👻🎃

As the number of Covid-19 infection rates rise across the county, we are encouraging you to find other ways to celebrate Hallowe’en safely.

We understand it’s a hugely popular time of year with children and families, and we’re urging you to stick to the rules while enjoying your celebrations, so that we can help reduce the spread of the virus.

Traditional activities like trick or treating are not recommended this year, while Hallowe’en parties with friends can’t happen either because it puts people at risk of further spreading the virus, meaning we have to find new and different ways to celebrate safely.
