Technology plays an important part in our everyday lives. From having a smart speaker that can help with shopping lists to robot vacuums in our homes...there's tech for every eventuality!
This is no different for the childcare sphere, where embracing technology can enhance security, improve nursery-parent communication and can also be used in early years learning. But it can be a controversial topic, with some parents fearing that increased screen time will eclipse traditional learning tools and activities.
So, how can nurseries strike the perfect balance? We delve deeper into this topic in our latest whitepaper – download your free copy here: https://bit.ly/4ehWFWV

We promise it’s not a requirement to bring cake when you come to the Franchise Support Office…honestly! 😅
With our ‘Little hearts, bright futures’ initiative being such an important one to all of us here at Banana Moon, Claire was more than happy to take the reins from Emma in delivering the next lifesaving defibrillator to the network.
Here she is at Banana Moon Day Nursery in Harlow with Sian Burton and Helen Essery ❤
Earlier this month, we headed to Sunderland to celebrate them opening their doors to the community to help ensure the local children get the best start to their education journey!
Here are a few highlights from our visit…
There’s nothing like a little competitive spirit now, is there…
Following Josh’s red velvet cake, Mark couldn’t help but get involved to be our star baker with his homemade blackberry and apple crumble – with apples from his garden and the blackberries picked with his own fair hands!
Hands up if you want a trip to the Franchise Support Office to try what our bakers keep whipping up 🙋♀️🙋♂️
In celebration of , we wanted to highlight our work in the community for each of our nurseries as part of our ‘Little hearts, bright futures’ initiative to provide lifesaving defibrillators to each of our locations.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe place for our children to grow and learn, and this is something we’re incredibly proud to support.
Could we have a new contender for Culinary Star of the Year at this year’s Midnight Moon Awards?
Look at this masterpiece that Josh brought into the office the other day – and it tasted even better than it looked!
Who will be giving Josh a run for his money for the title?… Let us know in the comments!
Last week, Emma headed to Banana Moon Day Nursery in Walsall to supply them with their lifesaving defibrillator ❤

Here are some of our Full Moons exploring open ended natural resources to test their own ideas.
They used wooden resources to stack, balance and construct structures for their animals.
Children were encouraged to problem solve and think critically as they created.
Children’s voice: “Snake house” “It’s big”
Today Full Moons made some rice crispy bites!
We mixed together rice crispies, raisins and strawberry yoghurt then scooped the mixture into moulds. We then put our creation into the freezer to chill.
At snack time the children taste tested their creations and they were “yummy”.
Children developed their maths skills through the activity by counting, comparing quantities and measuring.
Today marks our Deputy Manager Melissa's 5 years work anniversary here at Banana Moon West Bromwich.
She's a valued member of the team and always does her best to support the children, families and staff team to achieve their potential.
Some beautiful gifts to show her our appreciation...

As the start of the new school term approaches it brings around the ending of an era...here are some kind words from one of our parents whose child will begin their school journey next month:
"I just wanted to send you all an email to thank you for your time with L now he’s left banana moon to start school.
It’s such a big deal putting your child in the hands of others, so thank you so much for keeping my little boy safe and caring for him the way you all have. L has made so much progress being with the nursery and had so much fun. Thank you for everything and giving him such happy memories."

To finish off our habitat investigation today the Full Moons created their own jungle.
We researched and discussed what a jungle looks and sounds like and what animals live there. We then planned what we would need to make our jungle such as trees and rocks.
We hunted for resources in the garden then created our very own jungle, adding animals at the end.
Today the Full Moons learnt all about the ocean.
We discussed what the ocean is made of such as coral and water. Children also named different animals that live in the water such as dolphins and crabs then added them to blue water play.
They then went on to use penguin ice paints to draw landscapes of the ocean.
An amazing opportunity 📢

This week the Full Moons have been learning all about habitats. Today they learned about the desert and the animals that live there.
We hunted for the correct animals and discussed how they live and the noises they make. We recorded what we had learnt on our whiteboard and took turns adding what we remembered.
The children decided they wanted to draw a desert so we added sand to paint and created our own with animals including camels and snakes.
