Welcome to the page for the 2nd Wellington Scout Group. This is a public page to show you what great things we do as a Group. Hope you enjoy it.
We have 3 sections at 2nd Wellington Scout Group. Beaver Colony - 6 to 8yrs - Monday evening
Cub Pack - 8 to 10.5yrs - Tuesday evening
Scout Troop - 10.5 to 14yrs - Friday evening
Operating as usual
Good evening all,
We would like to start collecting donations of toiletry items to help the KiP project, which is a charity set up to help local homeless people (https://maninplace.org.uk/homeless/). The feeling of being clean can greatly improve a person's self esteem, as well as improving their employment and accommodation prospects.
We would welcome donations of unused washing products, hair care items or dental hygiene products. Please could you bring any donations to your next meeting at the Scout hut - we will collect the donations together and pass them on to KiP.
Many thanks for your support of 2nd Wellington and of our local community.

What a productive morning! Our Cubs and Scouts joined forces with 1st Admaston Cubs and Beavers and the Friends of Dothill Nature Reserve to plant the last 2000 of 9000 bluebells and to help create hibernacula / habitats for woodland animals.
Thank you so much to the young people and to the adults that they brought with them, you were all amazing 🤩
Absolutely perfect weather conditions combined with a bit of good luck meant that the Scouts were not only able to spot several constellations on Friday night but also the ISS which happened to pass through the night sky during our meeting!
For anyone interested in spotting it themselves, I would recommend the “Satellite Tracker” app and “Sky View Lite” for identifying stars and constellations.
Well done 2nd Wellington on your pancake making 😊

Very proud of two of our scouts tonight. They each won a bronze medal for their performance in one of the disciplines at Shropshoot last weekend. John Dohoo, the organiser of the event, came to our meeting to present them with their medals.
I should add that all of our Scouts did well at the competition, especially so as they have had very little practice compared to many groups. Very well done to every single one of them.
Amazing 100% attendance at Shropshoot competition with Scouts taking part in air rifle, air pistol and crossbow competitions today. It was a very long day for all concerned but behaviour was excellent throughout.
Cubs had a great evening celebrating Chinese New Year which included cooking sweet & sour chicken and rice.
An amazing time was had by everyone at the Circus Spectacular at Oakengates today. Picture taken with permission from the performers.
All members behaved really well and were a credit to 2nd Wellington. Thank you all.
Thank you so much to those of you who have started to use Easyfundraising to help our Scout funds. We can then use these donations to subsidise/run better activities for your young people.

Well done to all of our Scouts tonight for taking part in our Chinese New Year meeting. They all had a go at making a Chinese candle holders, tried Chinese food and had a relay race using chopsticks, They all got the hang of using chopsticks fairly quickly, though it's a bit more difficult trying to use them when you're racing from one side of the room to the other ...
Fantastic progress by 2nd Wellington Scouts with their Circus skills. Thank you so much to Leo's Loco Circus for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much to the parents that came to the meeting tonight. We are particularly grateful to those who agreed to join our team of volunteers.
Very well done to the Scouts that took part in the air rifle shooting today. They all did amazingly well and made demonstrable progress in just half an hour!
I was so fascinated by the achievements that I forgot to take photos! I'll make sure I take some next time.

At Scouts, we have some great activities lined up for after Christmas: survival skills, air rifle shooting, making gadgets, circus skills. If you have a child aged 10 or above who is not already in Scouting, why not encourage them to give us a try? Come along for a few sessions and see what you think!
Get in touch with Jenny Flegg (scout leader) or send a message to 2nd Wellington Scout group. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Thank you for giving your time up today to serve your community. You were a credit to yourselves and to Scouting.
If anyone has any photos of the parade, especially involving 2nd Wellington, please post them here or on our private group page. Thank you.
Well done to all the Scouts who made their paracord poppies tonight. It required a lot of concentration and patience but they coped really well.
Next week is Quiz Night!
As members of a uniformed organisation, your schools should allow you to wear your scouting uniform in school tomorrow.
I’ll be wearing mine with pride, will you join me?
Jenny, Scout leader
To those of you going along to the 1st Wrekin bonfire and fireworks, have a great time.
It's not an official 2nd Wellington event so parents will need to stay with their young people.

If anyone as some spare time today me and my husband are currently painting the hall and would appreciate any help please. We will be here till around 3pm.
Thank you in advance.
The Scouts really enjoyed their Photography session last night. Thank you to everyone who either took part or helped. Here are a few examples of their work:
Night hike up the Wrekin with the scouts tonight. They really enjoyed themselves - they didn’t want to come back down!
Thank you to our eagle-eyed parent for spotting this in last week’s Telford Journal
Our Scouts had a really productive morning at Dothill nature reserve this morning. Between them we collected 3 big bags of rubbish while litter picking and made a real difference to a section of the nature reserve, pulling up Himalayan balsam: a pernicious w**d that suppresses native plants. Thank you to Friends of Dothill Local Nature Reserve for letting us to help you.
