I just HAD to share these two AMAZING realist, landscape water-colour paintings, created by Chloe P and Ruby A in Year 5.
Aren't they stunning? What talent we have at WP - WELL DONE girls, we are very proud of you... πŸ‘

Mrs H-C
Head of School
On Friday 27th May Wellesley Park officially celebrated the Queen's platinum jubilee - in great style and ceremony! Our school council had previously planned and written letters, inviting our Mayor of Wellington - Mark Lithgow - to be our special visitor and judge for the day. The day began with lots of creative jubilee related learning activities and then every child got to parade beneath glorious sunshine, in their finest crowns! Each year group's crowns were judged by The Mayor and our School Council. The day ended with a whole school art exhibition of our Royal Queen portraits - the talent demonstrated by all our pupils was brilliant! I would like to thank our Mayor for his attendance and full participation in all our events, and for helping to make the platinum Jubilee at Wellesley Park something to remember forever!

Mrs Hartley-Criddle
We have been asked to share a fundraising appeal, for the fabulous Immy and her need for a specialist trike - please see the attached link for further information, we know she will be very grateful for any wider community support - Please do share widely!
Thank you :-)

GOOD NEWS ALERT!!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that OFSTED have deemed the school to be β€˜Good’ in all areas.

During the full, two-day inspection, OFSTED noted improvements across all areas of the school, particularly noting: excellent pupil behaviour, full inclusivity, well supported SEND provision, broad and balanced curriculum, strong leadership and effective teaching, throughout the school. The inspectors praised the school’s values and ethos, stating they were clearly evident as β€˜pupils display positive attitudes and take pride in their work.’

The report also made a special note of the attention that the school pays towards delivering lessons which foster all individual students’ interests and passions.

Headteacher, Carly Wilkins said: β€œWe are delighted with our recent OFSTED report which acknowledges the hard work and dedication that all of our staff and pupils put into their work at Wellesley Park Primary School. It was recognised that, β€˜Everyone makes sure pupils enjoy school, learn in a stimulating and supportive environment whist feeling safe and cared for…’

Here is Mrs Wilkins announcing the news...see if you can spot any little faces you recognise...!

Please like and share!

A caring, community minded primary school, with inclusive and aspirational expectations for all.

Our Reception children have been busy creating self-portraits; capturing their key features. This was a great opportunity to promote acceptance and celebrate diversity - it's great to be different!

Look at those cute faces! Can you spot your child? πŸ˜πŸ‘

Year 6 are learning about cubism and the beginning of modern art and how you can look at people and objects from different viewpoints at the same time. They have been looking for different angles to abstract the image.
Look at their amazing work. ✍🏻🎨😊

We really enjoyed our coffee mornings at the end of the year so thought we’d start them again.
Feel free to come and join us for a morning of drinks/food/chatter and usually a great deal of laughter πŸ˜‚
You don’t have to β€˜join the committee’ β€˜be an active member’ or even β€˜talk about PTA things’ just a chance to make friends and have a drink. We hope to see you then!

Yesterday, Year 1 explored the history of toys. They discussed their favourite toys and how toys in the past are different to toys today. They then sorted a variety of toys into 'old' and 'new'. 😊🧸πŸͺ†

This week in science Year 5 have been learning about our solar system. The children took charge of their own learning and researched the planets, finding different and interesting facts about each one, before creating their own solar system fact sheet.
The work produced was quite literally out of this world! πŸŒβ˜€οΈπŸŒ

What a brilliant first week back at Wellesley Park Primary School! Our children have all settled well into their new class routines showing superb behaviour for learning - particularly our reception classes who have engaged in play and learning as well as enjoying lunch. πŸ‘πŸ½

It's also wonderful to see all of our the children looking smart in their school uniforms. β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›

Well done to both staff and pupils for a successful week. We are all looking forward to a great school year! 😊🌈πŸ”₯

Lots of lovely, thoughtful, art work from Year 5 today, after being inspired the the beautiful book: 'The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse' by Charlie Mackesy.

06/09/2023

Wow - it has been an incredible first day back at school!

Our children have returned to school excited for the year ahead. Classrooms are once again filled with energy and enthusiasm for learning new things. πŸ‘

In our whole school assembly, led by Mrs Wilkins, we discussed resilience and reminded ourselves of last year BGT's finalist, Cillian O'Connor, who fulfilled his dreams by never giving up. With your help and encouragement our children will be able to maintain this positive attitude to learning and achieve their own goals/targets

Our new EYFS children have settle well into the new academic year and they are already becoming familiar with class routines.

It's going to be a great school year! πŸ˜€πŸ₯°βοΈπŸ”₯

Attendance - we all have a responsibility to ensure that our children have the very best start in life: enabling them to reach their full potential - academically, socially and emotionally.

At Wellesley Park Primary School we take attendance VERY seriously because each session missed puts a child behind for the next session - it's frightening just how quickly attainment gaps can accumulate and it's not always easy/possible to 'catch a child up' afterwards, especially if multiple sessions have been missed.

So let's all make sure that next year is the very best attendance and learning year - for every child!

Year 5 have been designing their own bird boxes as part of our DT curriculum. Yesterday, they went to Court Fields to bring these their designs to life. They used a variety of equipment such as: tenon saws, drills and sanders to prepare the wood for their bird boxes. Then they melted plastic, which allowed us to mould them to fit our roofs, we put these together using glue.
We finished off by watching the 3D printer bring our personal logos to life. It was a fantastic morning - thank you Court Fields School! 🀩
