Reminder: World Mental Heath Day

We will be supporting World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10th October by asking pupils to come to school wearing as much, or as little, yellow as you can. By wearing yellow we are showing solidarity and empathy for each other and supporting positive mental health. 😊

Yesterday, we joined together at Wellington Baptist Church (WBC) for our annual Harvest Festival. We sang songs and read poems to celebrate the importance of harvest. Thank you to Rev Sam for getting our staff involved too! 🍎🍓🍆🥕🍞🥬🍑

Year 6 are learning about cubism and the beginning of modern art and how you can look at people and objects from different viewpoints at the same time. They have been looking for different angles to abstract the image.
Look at their amazing work. ✍🏻🎨😊

We really enjoyed our coffee mornings at the end of the year so thought we’d start them again.
Feel free to come and join us for a morning of drinks/food/chatter and usually a great deal of laughter 😂
You don’t have to ‘join the committee’ ‘be an active member’ or even ‘talk about PTA things’ just a chance to make friends and have a drink. We hope to see you then!

Somerset Parent Carer Forum Dates :)

This afternoon, Year 6 pupils enjoyed a visit to Wellington School to watch Matilda the Musical. A big thank you for putting on such an amazing show and for providing the popcorn and drink. 🤩🎼😊

Yesterday, Year 1 explored the history of toys. They discussed their favourite toys and how toys in the past are different to toys today. They then sorted a variety of toys into 'old' and 'new'. 😊🧸🪆

This week in science Year 5 have been learning about our solar system. The children took charge of their own learning and researched the planets, finding different and interesting facts about each one, before creating their own solar system fact sheet.
The work produced was quite literally out of this world! 🌏☀️🌍

Mrs Wilkins had the pleasure of awarding our new house captains with their badges in celebration assembly this morning. Well done to you all 🌟 👏 😊

What a brilliant first week back at Wellesley Park Primary School! Our children have all settled well into their new class routines showing superb behaviour for learning - particularly our reception classes who have engaged in play and learning as well as enjoying lunch. 👍🍽

It's also wonderful to see all of our the children looking smart in their school uniforms. ❤️🧡💛

Well done to both staff and pupils for a successful week. We are all looking forward to a great school year! 😊🌈🔥

Lots of lovely, thoughtful, art work from Year 5 today, after being inspired the the beautiful book: 'The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse' by Charlie Mackesy.

Wow - it has been an incredible first day back at school!

Our children have returned to school excited for the year ahead. Classrooms are once again filled with energy and enthusiasm for learning new things. 👍

In our whole school assembly, led by Mrs Wilkins, we discussed resilience and reminded ourselves of last year BGT's finalist, Cillian O'Connor, who fulfilled his dreams by never giving up. With your help and encouragement our children will be able to maintain this positive attitude to learning and achieve their own goals/targets

Our new EYFS children have settle well into the new academic year and they are already becoming familiar with class routines.

Attendance - we all have a responsibility to ensure that our children have the very best start in life: enabling them to reach their full potential - academically, socially and emotionally.

At Wellesley Park Primary School we take attendance VERY seriously because each session missed puts a child behind for the next session - it's frightening just how quickly attainment gaps can accumulate and it's not always easy/possible to 'catch a child up' afterwards, especially if multiple sessions have been missed.

So let's all make sure that next year is the very best attendance and learning year - for every child!

We are running a selection of workshops throughout the Summer Holidays! 😀

We are limited to a maximum of 8 places for each workshop.

They are aimed at ages 9 -17.

Each workshop is split into morning and afternoon sessions:

🟡 Morning sessions run from 10:30am - 12:30pm

🟡 Afternoon sessions run from 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Today, we say goodbye to our Year 6 children who leave us to embark on their new adventures at secondary school. We know you will do amazingly well - aim high in all that you do!

Well done Year 6! We are so proud of you and we are going to miss you lots. Enjoy your Summer Break - from all of us at Wellesley Park! 😊😛😀

Year 5 have been designing their own bird boxes as part of our DT curriculum. Yesterday, they went to Court Fields to bring these their designs to life. They used a variety of equipment such as: tenon saws, drills and sanders to prepare the wood for their bird boxes. Then they melted plastic, which allowed us to mould them to fit our roofs, we put these together using glue.
We finished off by watching the 3D printer bring our personal logos to life. It was a fantastic morning - thank you Court Fields School! 🤩

Well! Bouncy Fun and Ice Cream Day is here!! As you can see, Sarah our Chair is ready to go! Hope everyone has a fantastic day and makes some fun memories.

Wellesley Park PTA We are a committee of parents, carers, teachers and school staff working together to create an amazing, fun and supportive school community. We organise fun events that in turn help raise funds for the school, so that it can ultimately benefit the children.
