World Champion professional snooker player Shaun Murphy aka ‘The Magician’ was right on cue entertaining folks at the prestigious Landywood Snooker Club in Cheslyn Haye, Walsall. As not only can he pull the tricks out the bag on the table he can perform his magic on the piano keys too. The Yamaha digital piano was supplied by local music store Octaves Yamaha Music Point in Bridge Street, Walsall.

Our customers aren’t always local as just delivered a Yamaha YDP-144R to Altrincham.
On Saturday September 26th the sound of great music could be heard at Octaves Yamaha Music Point as Keyboard & guitar students took to the stage for our Pandemic Playathon, which was part of a Yamaha Pan European Student Enrolment campaign. Watch performer Joshua Burke shred those strings with his performance of ‘That Sounds Like Noise’ from Rockschool Grade 6.

Congratulations to keyboard student Katie Hughes! Katie has won the Yamaha Music Schools Lyric Writing Competition 😃 She is currently working on grade 8, so has almost completed the Play for Keeps keyboard course, but now she has a brand new Yamaha electric guitar to play as well. This competition has just launched and you could win a keyboard, drum kit or guitar package!
All our students have been sent an email with the details you need to enter. The competition is open to anyone aged 6 or over. All you need to do is...
1. Download the backing track and melody score by clicking the links in the email.
2. Read the terms and conditions.
3. Write your song lyrics and give your song a title.
4. Complete the application form and send your lyrics to us so we can forward it to Yamaha.
The competition closes on Friday 3rd July. We are looking forward to receiving your entries!😃

We are all set up for online lessons! Sylvia started teaching yesterday, our new guitar teacher, Edward has started today and Brett will start his lessons on Monday. If we haven't already, we will be in touch soon to arrange your Skype, WhatsApp or Zoom lesson 😀

We are preparing for online lessons! From Friday, lessons will either be delivered live, through WhatsApp, or through a video made available for students to access. We will be in touch with everyone to let you all know how to proceed. Keep an eye out for texts and information on Facebook😀
The shop and school may be closed, but we still want to keep in touch with all our students, parents and customers, so we are expanding our social media platforms. We are now on instagram, so make sure you follow us for updates😃
*Important Notice*
Due to the coronavirus outbreak Octaves Yamaha Music Point School & Shop is now sadly closed until further notice.
However along with other Yamaha Music Schools up & down the country hopefully we’ll be delivering lessons online very soon, so will be in touch when we’re ready to start.
Some Yamaha schools have piloted remote teaching already and on the whole it’s been successful and well received.
For this students will need to set up a phone, laptop or device with a camera so that the teacher can see you and your instrument clearly.
All students will be contacted by text prior to their lesson with information on how to join online along with the day & time of their lesson.
Of course the shop is still taking instrument orders via this page for supply when restrictions are lifted. A new instrument would be well deserved after a lengthy period of isolation.
We would like to thank our students and parents for their support during this difficult time. Our teachers are working very hard to continue teaching and without this and your support, the music school would not be able to continue.
