🌟Have you discovered Baby Sensory yet? Book now for September🌟
It’s never too soon to start your Baby Sensory journey. Your newborn’s brain contains more than 100 billion brain cells. Synaptic connections are formed as a result of actions, events and experiences that the baby encounters from birth. These connections are strengthened whenever the newborn sees their mother’s face, hears the sound of her voice or feels the softness of her skin. Eventually, these connections will become hard wired to form memories. The majority of synaptic connections for vision, language, hearing, smell, taste, movement and learning will be formed in the first three months of life.
Touching, talking, singing, reading, smiling, signing and playing with babies from birth, nourishes the brain and develops potential for a lifetime.
A rich environment full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, taste, colours, textures and language will build a foundation that will make all subsequent learning easier. This is why those early postnatal experiences are so important.
Join us in September at our bespoke Baby Sensory WOW Centre in Aintree - we run classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

How do you like to play with your baby?
Our Founder, and leading parenting expert, Dr Lin Day is a big advocate of playing with your baby and encouraging your baby to play.
She has done a huge amount of research into baby play and knows just how important it is to a baby’s development.
This is because play is how babies learn about the world, themselves, other people and their own culture.
It also lays the foundation for reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, language, and scientific discovery. WOW!
However, it doesn’t matter how you play with your baby. Play can be quiet or noisy, energetic, or passive, social, or non-social, relaxed, or serious, imaginative or purposeful. It can involve baby toys or no toys at all!
All types of play will support your baby’s development and help them to make sense of the world around them.

You don’t need to put extra time aside for sensory play with your baby.
Routine activities such as feeding, nappy changing, dressing, bathing, cuddling, carrying and preparing for sleep all provide opportunities for sensory development.
Likewise, any kind of outing including trips to the supermarket, walks in the park, visiting friends and activities such as swimming all stimulate your baby’s senses.

👶 Let’s Talk Tummy Time! 👶
“Five minutes of ‘Tummy Time’ two or three times a day can have a positive effect on head shape and brain development” — Dr. Lin Day
10 good reasons for encouraging tummy time:
💛 Encourages play between the parent and baby.
💛 Promotes healthy development of the central nervous system, brain and skull.
💛 Strengthens neck, back and upper body muscles.
💛 Relieves stress and tension in the joints and muscles during growth spurts.
💛 Improves balance and postural control; the foundation for all movement skills.
💛 Encourages babies to lift their heads against gravity and to take weight on their arms and hands, which increases strength and resistance.
💛 Increases confidence and independence.
💛 Stimulates and enhances visual development.
💛 Aids healthy development.
💛 Leads on to crawling, an intellectually important developmental step not to be missed!
Does your baby like tummy time..or not?!
Comment below if I can help with some useful Tummy time tips 👇
💛💚 Katie 💚💛
💛💚 Let’s Play together 💛💚
Exercise and dance: Movement activities are very important to relieve tension on the joints and muscles during growth spurts.
Exercise also builds new brain cells, which drives learning forwards. This is incredible since it was previously thought that brain cell development was complete before birth. Everyone enjoys the exhilarating interactions which also develop the parent-baby bond and make for a healthier, happier baby.
At an age when the brain is developing more than it will ever again in life, exercise is definitely to be encouraged.
Want to make some music yourself and add to the music and movement? Why not introduce a chiffon scarf or ring my bell, available to buy from your class leader.
On your marks….get set….go 🥇 🥈 🥉

The Importance of Toys
Toys have the advantage of being safe and specially adapted to your baby’s age and stage of development. Your baby will look at them, listen to the sounds that they make, touch, and smell and taste them. All these things will build neural pathways in your baby’s brain and develop intelligence.
What is your baby’s favourite toy?
Classes return this week for the last 3 weeks of our Summer term ☀️
Baby Sensory classes are a great way to meet new friends as well as spend precious time with your baby.

Thank you so much for those who have booked on! I can’t wait to share another fun-filled term with you and your gorgeous babies!!
"Play allows babies to interact with the world around them, to make sense of it and to learn about their own culture. It can be quiet or noisy, energetic or passive, social or non-social, relaxed or serious, imaginative or purposeful. Play is a spontaneous, self-motivated activity that is initiated and controlled by the baby. Play has so many benefits that it is impossible to fully list them all!" Dr Lin Day
Bedtime tips 🤣
Why do babies need to play?
Play is an essential part of growing up. It is how babies and children learn about the world around them, their culture, themselves and other people.
Play is fundamental to healthy brain and physical development. It provides an emotional outlet for tension and frustration, and it is crucial to the socialisation process.
Play also lays the foundation for reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, language, and scientific discovery.
In fact, play is so important that it has been recognised globally as a fundamental human right.
And what is so lovely about play is that it is universal. Even though the play varies from culture to culture, all babies play!

When will my baby walk?
The short answer is when they are ready! Babies generally have their own timetables that can’t be rushed.
Some babies walk as early as 8 months and others as late as 2 years, however most take their first steps towards the end of their first year.
Premature babies generally walk later than full term babies of the same age because this skill is usually achieved at the age they would have been, had they been born at term and sometimes later.
If your baby isn’t yet walking and you are concerned, talk to your health visitor who will likely be able to reassure you.
You can also read more about how your baby will learn to walk and the steps you can take to encourage them to take their first steps in our latest blog: https://www.babysensory.com/firststepsforbaby

Our Story
Baby Sensory classes provide hundreds of sensory development activities that are great fun for parents and babies to share in the vital first year.
Baby Sensory is the only Baby Development programme with classes specifically designed for babies from birth.
Baby Sensory classes provide hundreds of simple activities that are fun for babies from birth to 13 months. Our baby classes include baby activities ranging from signing to fibre optic light shows, amazing light balls, bubbles and bells; there is always something different. Many of these activities are set to our own Baby Sensory music which is available on CD. What is really exciting about Baby Sensory is that it is a parent and baby group where many of the sensory materials and baby activities are unique to the programme.
Each class includes seven different activities each week and a discovery play time, during which baby can enjoy our sensory play area whilst parents have the opportunity to meet. You will be delighted when you see your baby use skills that have been learned in our new-born to 6 month baby classes for the first time.
