Our world is a very different place to what it was a couple of weeks ago and we’re facing new and interesting challenges... Your teenager 👨‍🦱 may be worried about all this uncertainty and what’s going to happen in these next few months. With GCSEs and A-levels being cancelled ❌ their world 🌎 may have been turned upside down and for many of them there is a chance they may not ever go back to their school again before moving to the next stage of their life. They may feel overwhelmed and challenged by having to constantly stay at home, unable to change the environment and finding it hard not to see their friends 😭, which leaves them feeling lonely and isolated. Perhaps they sleep 💤 too much, they feel tired and unmotivated, unproductive and totally unaccomplished?

>>> You know that they could cope better with more structure, greater focus and more positive mindset 🤩 and having strategies to stay calm and feel less stressed and happier about life in general. 🙏They would benefit from keeping physically 🏃‍♀‍ and mentally active. Yoga offers simple yet powerful practices that they can incorporate into daily life to break the cycle of boredom, stress and exhaustion whilst improving focus and motivation.

Suffering from hard-to-release back tension or soreness? Struggling with poor posture or reduced mobility?

Join me this week for a beginner friendly yoga practice to bring balance to your entire body!

With much of our natural movement being forward, the side body often tends to get overlooked in our daily lives... We rarely bend to the left or to the right. As a result, the muscles of the side body can end up tight and/or weak. In this week's practice we'll work on stretching and toning these muscles along the sides of the abdomen, rib cage, and spine, which will not only keep our waist trim but in addition side bends keep us energised, they allow us to breathe more fully and help release tension in our shoulders and back, de-stressing and calming.

Exam season is upon us and it can be a very stressful for your teenager who may be feeling anxious and under pressure...

How is your teen coping? Are they feeling overwhelmed, anxious or experiencing panic attacks? Is this affecting their sleep or eating habits? Or are they simply lacking motivation and procrastination has taken over?

To tackle these, yoga can be of great help! Yogic practices such as deep breathing, postures, mindfulness exercises and relaxation can be the ultimate stressbuster. They can help boost confidence, help focus the mind for improved focus and concentration and control pre-exam nervousness, Learning how to relax, learning about the science of stress and how they are in control of their wellbeing are powerful “aha moments” for young people. Becoming more aware of their feelings and their emotions as well as having tools to be able to self-regulate, will help them feel better about themselves, both physically and mentally. It will help them sleep better, be calmer, more focused and productive.

If you are worried about your teen, know that you are not alone. The good news is there are things you can do to help the young people in your lives.

Teen Yoga Day Retreat in the beautiful Sussex countryside - a day of yoga out in nature with amazing young people and great food.


Why do we to love to practise Warrior II? Not only does it help build strength and stability, as well as flexibility in the hips and upper body, it also teaches us one of the key principles of the asana (physical) practise, steadiness and ease. We involve the whole whole body in this posture, including what is out of sight.

as well as the physical practice, building strength and flexibility, i see yoga as a way to come home to ourselves, a place within us that stays steady through the spin and the swirl of modern day life. we find this stillness by bringing loving attention to our body, mind, heart and breath, in meditation, movement and through breathwork.

An important day in an amazing location The Shard London as representatives from the areas of Psychiatry, Public Health, Social Work, Primary and Secondary Education, Department of Education, BME, Yoga Therapy, Research in Education and Psychology, Business Development, Marketing and Project Management. The group comes together for a full day to discuss the current state of affairs of Teen Yoga Foundation and work together to get alignment on the foundation's future strategy as it relates to serving society by promoting the wellbeing of young people through yoga on an even larger scale.


An important message from Dr Michael Dixon, chair of the College of Medicine. He highlights not only the health but also the social benefits of yoga - particularly for young people, who are "diverted by electronic machines' - as such an important measure to help maintain mental and physical crucial when you're young!

Many of us have heard or experienced the amazing benefits of yoga. But what about for teenagers? How can it help them?

Find out how you can support the young people in your lives to better navigate the waters of adolescence - this period of intense change, self-discovery, courage and creativity - and help them become more aware, comfortable in their own skin, empathetic and live life to their fullest capacities.

Today is DAY 1 of the first ever GLOBAL - a FREE 5-day online event. It involved 11 experts from Europe, Canada and the US including Charlotta Martinus, author and founder of Teenyoga and Teen Yoga Foundation, which some of you know I joined as a trustee last year, as well as and Robin Watkins-Davis from Bliss-ed

During the next 5 days they will be sharing their passion and an incredible depth of knowledge around the fundamentals of yoga, best meditation and mindfulness practices, a comprehensive wellbeing toolkit for teenagers so to speak!

The evidence is growing….and particularly girls struggle to cope with this area of their lives.

As a mother of two teenage girls and a yoga teacher working with young people this hits home very closely. The concern is very real and we must all take responsibility!

Research shows that yoga is a powerful and therapeutic tool to help young people with positive mental health & wellbeing during this stressful period of life. It gives them a “toolbox” for life to deal with common issues such as anxiety, low mood, exam stress, bullying, sleep and body image, helping them to better understand their lives and emotions and become well-rounded and thoughtful citizens.

Frightening but not surprising...

Try this challenge... switch off your phone, set your timer and focus on the task at hand during this short yet highly focused time, away from any distractions. You will quickly notice how much more productive you are. Great way also to fight procrastination.

Personally I use the POMODORO 🍅🍅🍅TECHNIQUE (thanks Nancy Preston) where you work in intervals of 25 minutes

I've used many time management tools but this one is by far the simplest and best !
