💥💥💥Only 6 days to start this opportunity, check the link in the profile and be part of this 5 sessions workshop of brass and percussion with the best of the Cumbia and the mambo repertoire.

Join José Rojas and Rich Merchant for another exciting course under the umbrella of Edinburgh’s most exciting community street band, Shunpike Social Club!

This time @ Rich will be exploring two Latin American musical concepts that have enriched the music of the world from the past to the future: the Cumbia, and the Afrocuban ensemble that includes percussion and brass.

José hails from Chile, and as well as an expert percussionist, he is a researcher full of passion for his subject. In these 6 sessions José will develop more rhythmic patterns and possibilities related to the Cumbia and the Afrocuban ensemble on a wide range of instruments making sure to cater for all abilities and skills, within the selected repertoire.

Rich is a professional trumpet player who leads Glasgow’s exciting and colourful street band Brass, Aye? and will bring a selection of tasty Cumbia & Afrocuban arrangements for the melodic players of Shunpike to get their teeth into, all in an inclusive, safe and respectful environment... so book your place and let this music provide plenty of juicy ear worms for this Autumn!

Brass/reeds players will need their own instrument and a basic level of proficiency on it.

All percussion instruments will be provided. A bit of experience in hand drumming will serve you well, but if not, don’t worry! You will still gain a huge amount from José’s skill and knowledge of his speciality.💥💥💥
