In place of the Young Innovators Challenge, which will not be running this academic year, the Scottish Institute for Enterprise is launching I’m an Innovator, a brand new competition celebrating Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016.

SIE want your ideas for businesses, social enterprises or products which could make a difference to how people live in Scotland. The best ideas will win cash prizes of £1000!

We'll be joined by our keynote speaker Annabelle Ewing MSP Minister for Youth and Women's Employment, and previous winners Rebecca Pick (Pick Protection ), Christopher McCann (Snap40) and Victoria Hamilton (VH Innovation Ltd) who will talk about how they have got on since winning. Our 2015 winners will also find out who will receive the additional funding from our dragons den pitching event earlier this week. Exciting!

Entrepreneur and YIC 2014 winner, Rebecca Pick, has had a big week. She's been featured in GLAMOUR UK, The Guardian and Metro! Rebecca's product, Personal Guardian, was developed during last years competition and will be available to order in the next few months. We can't wait to see what happens next for her and Pick Protection.

Rebecca is a graduate from University of Strathclyde and a former SIE Intern.

Student invents r**e alarm that tells police the victim's location Rebecca Pick, 22, from Glasgow, has invented a new r**e alarm that alerts police and can be used as evidence in court. It works like a burglar alarm and is so small it can be clipped on to the wearer's bra.

Co- founder Josh Littlejohn was on the panel of judges who selected this year's fantastic Young Innovators Challenge winners based on the social impact and sustainability of their businesses.

While the Aberdeen shop is being fitted, you can support a good cause and visit Social Bite in Rose Street & Shandwick Place Edinburgh, or St Vincent St & Bothwell St in Glasgow.

Really pleased to let everyone know that our shop fit in Aberdeen in well on its way. We will be opening on 516 Union St in early - mid July. Please share to spread the word to those in that neck of the woods.

Considerable pressure exists to maintain energy flows for growing populations with ever increasing technological use and infrastructural demands. Scotland is poised to embrace the potential from renewable sources of energy but much remains to be done. Whilst technological and scientific research continues to offer new opportunities the potential exists to investigate localised power generation and distribution.

We can't wait to see how the YIC 2015 ideas will develop!
