Pronouns: he/him
Favourite Animal: Razorbill

“I love the sea because it hold so many unique and wonderful animals.
I joined the committee because I love marine biology and I want to get more involved in my degree. This was a great chance to explore new areas of marine biology and hopefully help other people share my passion.”

Fun fact: I am a qualified scuba diver.

Museum tours are back! Check out Aberdeen University Zoology and Biological Sciences Society post to find out more about this amazing volunteering opportunity!🦣🪲

Museum tours are back!!
Have you seen the University of Aberdeen’s impressive zoological collection yet?
Tours will be running at 11am and 12pm every second Wednesday starting this week on the 25th.

Our new Ball Rep, Kiera is already busy working on the last touches for the SBS Ball!

Age: 21
Degree: 3rd year Zoology
Where I'm from: Scotland
Pronouns: she/her
Favourite animal: Epaulette shark

"I fell in love with the water and the feeling of weightlessness before I even began learning about the creatures that call it home. Namely sharks, so misunderstood and so gorgeous, I want to help fix their awful reputation."

Fun fact: The epaulette shark can shut down some of its organs and direct blood flow to essential brain functions to keep it alive during its strolls across the rocky shore.

Over the last term we had some changes in our committee, Lucas Alcaraz has taken over as Vice President and Isabel Augustine is now our Second Year Rep. This freed up the positions of Events Officer and Ball Rep. During our EGM in November, we elected new members for these roles and a 4th Year Rep, and now of course, we want to introduce you to them!
Our new Events Officer is Isobel Grieve!

Age: 20
Degree: Marine Biology
From: Scotland
Pronouns: she/her
Fave animal: Basking Shark

I’ve always lived on the coast, and so I guess the sea reminds me of my childhood. I also love the diversity of life in the sea, and how powerful it is. I wanted to play a role in a society that promotes marine conservation, and help maintains life in the ocean.

Fun fact: I spent last summer diving with great white sharks!🦈

Hello hello everyone! We hope you all got through exam season with your sanity intact and are now starting into the well deserved winter break!☃️

As we know that most of you are going home and many are scattered all over the world, we have thought of a special little event to keep us all connected over the break, that will help the environment as well!🌍
We are having a litter picking competition! Wherever you are in the world, just do a little clean up. It doesn’t matter if it is planned or during a walk, with friends or alone and if you collect a lot or just take three. ♻️🚮

Take a photo of the oddest piece of rubbish you find and send it to us before midnight on the 15th of January, 2023! (Bonus points for photographical creativity!)
The winner will get this cute little glass octopus as a prize!🐙

We wish all of you relaxing and sustainable holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎄❄️

Come along to our games night next Wednesday (30th November) 6-8pm at Union brew!

If you want a break from studying then come along to relax and have fun! 🎉

The games we’ll be playing include monopoly (with a time limit!), cards against humanity, werewolf/Mafia, and heads up, so it’s sure to be a great night! 🎲

Hope to see you all there!
