The World Cup is underway and we are enjoying using it to improve our skills in sport and geography!
Every class has a group of countries we will be following, supporting and studying!

E Safety is one part of our curriculum that we revisit throughout the year. As parents and carers it can be hard to find the words to talk to our children about keeping safe.

The most important thing is to let them know we will never be angry with them if they tell us about something that has made them feel uncomfortable online.

We cannot prevent them from accessing the Internet and wider media in one form or another, but we can give them the tools to look after themselves. Putting the groundwork in now while they are young will help as they grow older.

A huge thank you to Claire Galloway from Frith’s Opticians Poundbury and her colleague Jessica Milton-Lawrence from Hoya, who came into school this week to teach our children all about the importance of looking after our eyes 👀

The children learned so much and loved sharing their learning afterwards!

It’s really important that we model managing emotions to our children, both at school and at home.
As parents and carers of children who are learning how to manage their own emotions, it’s good to remind ourselves of this.

Year 3 made their traditional visit to the village war memorial today to observe the 11am silence. They left the poppy pebbles they designed and painted earlier in the week.

10/11/2022

Year 2 have been thinking about significance, legacy and achievements. So far this year, they have found out about the explorer Ibn Batutta, Robert Catesby, Guy Fawkes and the Gun Powder Plot. Today they recapped their knowledge of Moina Michael's legacy with the poppy we wear for Remembrance. Who do you think are the mystery significant people they are still yet to find out about?

Year 4 are having a creative and busy week!

On Monday they worked with Year 2, looking at the work of Kandinsky.

Then, inspired by the painting Parliament on the Thames by Monet, they used their developing colour mixing skills and watercolour techniques to create these wonderful postcard images.

They also enjoyed their petit dejeuner on Wednesday morning 😂
