A week left until Bethany and I deliver Silver Threads - make sure you book your place now! I'm so excited for this, I wish I was attending it rather than delivering it ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅฐ

Come and be guided on an experiential journey through the eyes of animals and explore what this brings up for you. Perhaps you connect with empathy at how hard it is to be a prey animal having to listen out for any sign of danger; perhaps you connect with what acting as a predator brings up personally for you; or perhaps you simply connect with the freedom to be present and playful in a beautiful, wildlife-rich location.
This immersive and reflective day will be facilitated by myself and local poet Bethany Rivers ๐Ÿ’š
Places still available, and a delicious and nutritious lunch provided by local eatery Plantkind is included.

What an absolutely luscious and vibrant Spring we're having! Right now I'm in love with the candelebras of horse chestnut flowers, the pinks of herb robert and red campion, and the blackbird outside the front of the house who has added an almost giggle-like element to their song that makes me grin every time I hear it ๐Ÿ’š
I have two public events coming up next month, both located in the amazing grounds of Berrington Hall, Shrewsbury and both in collaboration with delicious local eatery, Plantkind ๐Ÿคค
During the first, 'Exploring our connection with nature' on Sunday 4th June, we'll spend time immersing ourselves in nature and temporary community as we engage in practices that bring us in deeper connection with the natural world.
And the second, 'Silver Threads - what connect us?' on Sunday 25th June, will be an incredibly fun, mindful and curious day as we explore the world around us through the eyes of a variety of animals. Local poet, Bethany Rivers, and I will be co-facilitating this event and so this promises to be an exceptionally reflective and transformative experience ๐Ÿฅฐ

Pleasure to watch a pair of raven fledglings taking first flights, an experience I have never had before. Such wonderful birds. I heard the commotion of raven calls and magpie mobbing. The parent birds did a fly past and this one and its sibling made their first flights, this one paused on top of the hedge for a photo then I left them to it..

I recently spent a day in the woods with a wonderful friend. Our time there was gentle, owing to the fact that we were both exhausted. We wandered, slowly, stopping to look at gorgeous mammal and bird tracks in lovely wet mud, napping on the soft woodland floor, searching through the leaf litter for birch seeds and millipedes. We excitedly discovered a pair of pied flycatchers and, in awe, we watched them hunt and gracefully flit about.

Slow time in nature is so precious to me. In this modern world, I find life so very overwhelming. It's full of pressure to perform and to earn, of urgency, conflict and challenges, of the painful constant of the sounds of modern human life, it's full of illness, depression, injustice and cruelty.
Slow time in nature helps rebalance me. It helps me to connect with perspective and gratitude. It helps to remind me that I am one human within a huge, huge world of wildlife and rhythms and webs, and that I am one human who is learning how to contribute to the world in ways which are helpful and meaningful for others, and energising and purposeful for me.
๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ
As the sun began to set, I felt an overwhelming urge to rise up out of the valley and see the waning sun's rays hitting the forest and the hills. I began a march, onwards and upwards. At each bend, I thought I was at the top and then would see the path stretch out further. Determinedly, I continued climbing until, at long last, I broke out of the woods into an open view of the sun setting over the hills, and it was every bit as breathtaking as I'd imagined it would be. This had been a a simple mission, and yet one filled with so much purpose, energy, and reward.
๐ŸŒ„
I was rewarded not only with the beauty of the entire world in front of me, but I also met a roe deer at the top of the hill. They looked up at me, pausing their feasting. We stood, watching each other, for a moment that felt like it could have lasted forever. As the spell broke and they bounded off into the woods, I felt the peace of the world wash over me.

We are receiving more and more calls about animals, especially Deer, that have sadly been involved in road traffic accidents and need our assistance. At this time of year many animals are moving around further and are more active as they try to find mates and new territories. So these animals find themselves having to cross roads and other unsafe areas. Sadly due to the areas these accidents usually occur, many collisions do not end well for the animals because of the high speed limits on these roads.

So please, when travelling be mindful of animals that could be around, not only for the animals sake but also for the safety of yourselves and other road users. Thank you. ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿฆก๐Ÿฆข

Unfortunately, I've had to take the decision to reschedule 'An afternoon of connecting with nature' from tomorrow to Saturday 8th April, due to the snow. It's truly gorgeous out there today, but in semi-rural Shropshire we still have quite a bit of snow and with yellow weather warnings for ice, I thought it safer to discourage people from making unnecessary journeys. It's also forecast to be bitter-cold - it's absolutely stunning tracking and playing in the snow, but perhaps not e everyone's idea of fun for three hours!
