🌍 Random Acts of Kindness Week 🌍

This week is random acts of kindness week, being kind and living a life with empathy to others, can come with great benefits. Studies show that helping others can benefit our own mental health and well-being too.

Doing nice things for others boosts your serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being. Like exercise, altruism also releases endorphins, a phenomenon known as a ‘helpers high’.

This is something that I believe can be taught and adapted to each person/ child no matter how young or old.
To surprise someone with baked goods or help someone with their shopping; are all actions of Kindness.

Research says teaching kindness has a positive influence on a range of academic, health, and social outcomes for kids.

When kindness is taught, children experience increased self-esteem, increased motivation to learn, improved attendance, and decreased bullying and violence.

Their good deeds improve their well-being and help them develop positive perceptions of their world.

We understand that life can get busy and current restrictions do not allow us to show kindness to the extremes that we would want.

BUT this week, I ask that you and those around you try and do at least 1 act of kindness this week 😁

Let me know how it goes!

We know it’s a very challenging time right now for most children and online schooling can be isolating and overwhelming. We at iTutorbysim have created a new programme of group classes to help motivate children and create some fun back into their academics!

The classes will range from building your child’s foundations in times tables, comprehensions, creative writing and poetry; to fun healthy competitions and interactive team building work that is enjoyable for all.

- Groups will not be any bigger than 4 students in a session.
- Classes are tailored to those students in the group.
- Group sessions are £10 per child

Open to new and current students 🤩
Don’t forget to share, so nobody misses out on the academic fun! ☺️

‘Dragon Sim Competition Winner 2021’

🙌🏽Happy Saturday! 🙌🏽

It’s been a while since we have posted, we have some exciting plans in store!

The last few weeks have been hectic and overwhelming for most parents and children, since we entered ‘HomeSchooling part 3’.
So we decided to incorporate the MF programme into a ‘Dragon Sim Competition’.

Every student that entered went above and beyond, pushing themselves to build their personal skills which will in turn support their academics.

After finding it extremely difficult to narrow down the top 3. Jovan Bahia, Upneet Beghal and Sienna Shergill reached the last phase - the finals! 🥳

Thank you to KnightskyMedia and who joined the judging panel to help us decide the winner!

Runners up Jovan and Upneet were absolutely amazing! We are super proud of them for working extremely hard on their projects.

The winner of ‘Dragon Sim 2021’ is Sienna Shergill! Sienna’s out of the box thinking gained her those additional points to win the top prize - enjoy her fabulous video pitch above! 🤩

We are extremely proud of all our students! We cannot wait for the next competition 🙏🏽

🌲🎅🏽 Merry Christmas! 🎅🏽🌲
Day 5 of ‘12 Days of iTutorbysim’

‘How to be Productive during the Festive Period!’

Many students have exams coming in January, University exams
GCSE Mocks
A Level Mocks
Interviews
Essay Submissions
(The list goes on...)

Unfortunately we cannot hit pause on life, sometimes we have to make sacrifices and do stuff we don’t really want to do.

I would love to be watching Christmas movies for the whole of December but essays will not write themselves!

So one way I and many other students can make the most out of the festive period is to get productive 🥳🥳🥳

The more effective our learning, revision and working is... the quicker you can all get back to eating mince pies and watching Elf!

Soak in the advice, breathe it all in, now let’s get going! 🙌🏽❄️

🌲🎅🏽 Merry Christmas! 🎅🏽🌲
Day 4 of ‘12 Days of iTutorbysim’

‘Something to remember this Christmas’

Most of us want to achieve so much from our lives, we read about how we can be successful, we know how we can be successful. It’s our own minds and environments that can sometimes stagnate us from reaching our desired goals.

My opinion? Yes, we will make mistakes. Yes, I make a lot of mistakes. I panic in exams, stutter in interviews and forget information when really needed.

BUT there is power in acknowledging who we are, who we want to be and how we can pick ourselves up again. These people on your screen have failed multiple times, what makes them so remarkable and admirable is not what they have achieved; but what they have been through to get that achievement.

We may fail, we may make mistakes. The sooner you get back up and try again the closer you are to achieving your successes.

Don’t be hard on yourself, guide yourself, grab those opportunities and strive to grow.

Soon these mistakes will be seen as stepping stones to triumph

🌲🎅🏽 Merry Christmas! 🎅🏽🌲
Day 3 of ‘12 Days of iTutorbysim’

‘How to be there for someone at Christmas’

Most of my followers probably question why I talk so much about mindfulness and positive energy when I’m a tutor of academics. Well... I believe and have seen through my experience that when a child or adult is positive and happy with themselves, they will in turn give more energy and willingness to their goals/ studies.

One part of feeling good, is helping others feel good.
Here’s some science...

Altruism is acting on the concern for others and their wellbeing.
Altruistic activates reward centres in the brain. Neurobiologists have found that when a person is engaged in an altruistic act, the pleasure centres of their brain become more active.

These acts trigger us to be more empathetic people but also activates ‘happy hormones’ like dopamine. Causing our stresses to alleviate and gaining a sort of ‘buzz for life’.

This will in turn fuel your energy levels, make others happy and help yourself to see life/ work/ relationships in a clearer and happier view.

🌲🎅🏽 Merry Christmas! 🎅🏽🌲
Day 2 of ‘12 Days of iTutorbysim’

‘Meditation’

Does meditation work? Is it just a trend? Don’t think you can focus?

Many people will look at this post, and think “oh no! Not another ‘boring’ mindfulness technique!”

However, take it from me... meditation does work! If you are consistent and really try to focus, meditation can and will affect your life in positive ways!

I personally didn’t see the current benefits when I was doing it for 20+ days consecutively during lockdown with Jay Shetty

But now looking back, it gave me peace and calm during those uncertain times; to self develop, strengthen relationships and grow myself and iTutorbysim, as well as my degree.

You can do it too! Let me know how it goes 🥰

I will be meditating everyday for 14 days, I will let you all know what I learn! 🙌🏽🤩

Vibration aka “vibes”. It’s a scientific and philosophical theory. Everything vibrates and everything carries some form of energy and when you put out good energy into the universe, or into the world, or whatever you want to call it you'll receive things that resonate at the same frequency of that particular energy. says “for example, if I'm putting feelings out of joy, I'm going to receive more things to feel joyful about and that's really what the law of vibration is. If you can feel good now you'll receive more things that will help you feel good”.

"The problem we have is that it's hard to feel good all the time and to maintain a high vibration, which is ultimately just feeling good."
(we do fail, we do have personal obstacles and we can have bad days where we have no energy to give out) BUT...

If you have gratitude and understanding of what you have in front of you can ultimately help you to see how you can elevate using the building blocks in your life right now. Even if you just think of happiness as a whole. You know, you could have it all. But if you don't appreciate what's in front of you, you're not going to be happy.

Some students, including myself get so overwhelmed and worked up about the end goal. Sometimes we all just need to take a deep breath, write down the goal/ dream and pursue it! 🙌🏽😄

Go manifest those goals!! *My understanding of this concept is from ‘Good vibes, good life’ by * HIGHLY RECOMMEND 🧘🏽‍♀️

Dm me to discuss more, would love to hear your thoughts 🥰

I personally have never been the most studious person. I struggle with making my grades reflect my actual intelligence in subjects I have no passion for. I HATE exams, get panicky and my brain is like a sieve the moment I step foot in the exam hall. I know so many more students are currently feeling the same way, you are not alone! Keep trying your complete best, exploring and staying open minded to a life beyond exams. You will find that one subject, job or activity you will thrive in. Your time will come.

Personal note: Economics, Political affairs and Philosophy are my favourite subjects that allow me to show off my talents 🙌🏽🔥 what are yours?

iTutorbysim was created to help and share the lessons I have learnt from my experiences! DM me for more details ☺️

Many children face mental health at a young age due to their environment being too stressful, violent or unmanageable. But some children face mental health even when their families and life seem ‘perfect’. There’s not one straight diagnosis and neither a cure. But if parents take extra care and thought about their actions, we may see a difference.

It’s worth a try, right?

Timeline photos 31/07/2020

It can take on average 21 days to create a habit, but 66 days for a new behaviour to become automatic.
There’s no one-size-fits-all for changing your lifestyle; some people may find it easier to develop new behaviours. But there is no right or wrong timeline. The only timeline that matters is the one that works best for you.

DO NOT stop trying if at 22 days the habit is still hard to stick by! The lightbulb was formed after over 1000 attempts, Einstein did not read till he was 7 years old and Walt Disney got rejected 300 time’s for his “Mickey Mouse” idea.

Moral of the story- success is built on failure! Keep going.

Happy Mindfulness Friday! 🌸
