The NEW Spelling Shed scheme equips children with the knowledge and skills they need when spelling unfamiliar words and applying spellings to their writing.
We can help children to become independent when spelling unfamiliar words by encouraging them to think of these questions, e.g. When spelling the word 'sinking', I can split it into the base word and suffix. The base word ends in two consonants, so I can just add the suffix with no change.

Parent's Evening Tips!

As a parent myself I always try to have a small list of ideas or areas to discuss with my child's teacher during Parent's Evening.
It definitely saves the .... " Oh I meant to ask about....." later on at home.

If you've had Parent's Evening and forgot to ask a couple of things, ask for a quick chat at the end of the day to discuss or arrange another meeting. It's always worth asking questions to resolve any issues rather than worrying about things until the next Parent's Evening! You're welcome!

Back to work, a little later than usual in September but I gave myself permission to spend the first 2 weeks of my daughter starting school (Reception) to be there walking her to school and picking her up every day! Loved every minute especially dressing her up for Roald Dahl Day today as a witch from The Witches!

Summer holidays are here! It's been one busy year with teaching Reception and tutoring online but I've loved every minute of it! I'm so incredibly proud of all of the children that I teach and I've had such lovely end of year thank you cards from parents! Teaching is such a rewarding job!
Now I'm looking forward to some sunshine, walks along the beach and getting ready to do it all again starting in September!

Prefer online tuition as your child has excelled with online schooling during lockdown? This Covid 19 Pandemic 🌈 ❤️ for a lot of us right now is still a worry. In the UK I know that people are just getting use to children being back at school, after school clubs starting back up with children mixing more and small groups of people being allowed to meet up outside. It still feels a bit strange for me too. That's why I am still tutoring online currently and know that when I do start face to face tuition, I will still offer online and be flexible to meet parent's and children's needs. We all need to feel comfortable and I'm here to support you and your child ❤️🏠

With my tutoring Reading Package alongside the activities given each time we share a book, you also get access to the You Tube link of me reading the book for example; Bear's Magic Pencil and can re-watch as many times as you would like! Along with a 2 x 30 minute 1-1 tutoring sessions weekly.

I have a large collection of children's books at home and every time we move onto another book you get access to me reading it aloud so that you and your child can really connect with the story.
