On Tuesday, Bedfont Lakes visited Doves class with some super cool reptiles!! The children loved holding the different animals and learning more information about them.

๐ŸชโœจYear 5 had a fabulous time investigating at the visiting planetarium yesterday. This term they have been reading the story Cosmic By Frank Cottrell-Boyce, and researching different aspects of space and time. This visit was the perfect addition to their in class learningโœจ๐Ÿช

Another busy day for Eagles class in Bristol. Started the morning in the aquarium which the children absolutely loved. They saw turtles, octopus, sting rays and got to feed the fish. Spent part of the afternoon on the ferry exploring the floating harbour capturing the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Thekla- the boat that used to hold the Grim Reaper (artwork by Banksy.) Lastly experienced the ghostly Ghost Walk. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow

Year 6 has had a brilliant couple of days! It has been jam-packed and so much walking. Today we begun the day with an amazing breakfast buffet, then headed off to St Maryโ€™s Church where we had an informative, historical tour. We then visited and walked across the wonderous Clifton Suspension Bridge. Next stop - Za Za Bazaar Buffet!!!

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธLast week, Doves were working so hard on writing their own Non Chronological reports on different animals. They focuses on organising their paragraphs around a theme and including fronted adverbials in sentences.

This week, we introduced house teams at Darley Dene - Meteor, Supernova and Comet. Each child is part of a different house and will be led by our selected Dynamos. We are excited for future house competitions and how these will be part of our school.

Sparrows have had a lovely three weeks and are settling into school life beautifully. We have been working on climbing, jumping and balancing in Physical Education, learning new phonics sounds, looking at sorting objects, and playing in our new environment. ๐ŸŒธ

The children in Robins have had a great time settling into their new environment. They have all made friendships with each other and have enjoyed learning new names. They have also been building their fine motor skills, participating in PE lessons, making our own playdough and we have been making a collaborative classroom display of the story called, 'Owl Babies! ๐Ÿฆ‰

This week the children were introduced to an exciting new project here at Darley Dene - Dynamos!
The Dynamos will be children selected from each class, who will become the voice of the children within our community. Application forms have been given to each class and children have until Tuesday 26th to apply!

Here is a look at some of the learning that has been happening in Magpies this week!
In Science we have been geologists classifying rocks, in Art we have been looking at creating our own paint brushes with natural materials as if we lived in the Stone Age, and in Maths
we are diving into place value into the 100's.

Thank you all for being with us over the last three weeks!

What a fabulous day we have had here as Lumen Summer Camp 2023 draws to a close. We have seen some amazing talent this afternoon, as well as excellent words of encouragement from the audience as they cheered all of the performers on!

We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for being with us at camp over the last three weeks, here at Walton Oak. We have enjoyed welcoming back some familiar faces and also seeing lots of new, happy campers join us for the first time. We hope you enjoy the rest of Summer and look forward to seeing you again next year.
