Happy Tuesday! Here's a reminder of the activities the children are enjoying during our . Huge thanks to the FSS for funding this week and to all our parents and carers for your generous donations in support of the FSS fundraising activities.
The last few weeks have seen the children put their sporting skills to the test in a series of tournaments. First up, huge congratulations to the Y3/4 and Y6 teams who took part in the inter-school cricket tournament last week. Lots of fun was had and some fantastic cricket played ensuring top spot on the podium for both our Sherston teams who won ALL their games. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ†
From all the staff here, we would like to wish our children, parents and carers and the whole village community a very Happy Christmas. πŸŽ…πŸŽ„πŸŒŸ
The children enjoyed a wonderful spread for their Christmas dinner yesterday. Thank you to the cooks and helpers and, also, a big shout out to Friends of Sherston School for providing the beautiful hand made goody bags (as a more environmentally friendly alternative to crackers) and to The Midcounties Co-operative in Sherston and Aldi UK in Malmesbury for their generous donations to these.
We'd like to say a big well done and thank you to the Friends of Sherston School. Their tireless work and creative ideas have brought us lots of fun fundraising events this term all of which have raised significant amounts for the school. This success would not have been possible without the support and donations from our whole school community so thank you all.
You know Christmas has really started when the Christmas jumpers come out and today we had a school full of them πŸ˜€.
Wishing everyone a very happy weekend and, if you haven't had a chance to make a Christmas Jumper Day donation, you can still do so via ParentPay. All proceeds are being split between Friends of Sherston School and Save The Children.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here and we are really looking forward to all the festive fun we have planned. Happy December everyone and thank you Hortico plant centre for the beautiful tree🌲

Today our numbers nearly doubled as we were joined by over 120 'crazy' bears 🐻. These bears put on quite a show in their fantastic fancy dress in honour of Pudsey and Children In Need. Well done to everyone for the creative costumes, I think it is safe to say the bears had a great day. Donations can still be made through the ParentPay Children In Need page (link in comments).
This weekend we were treated to the children's wonderful creations at the 'Box of Delights' exhibition as part of the Sherston Arts Festival. Thank you to Sherston Arts Festival for organising and inviting us to take part and well done to all the children whose imaginative ideas for their shoe box delights and firework pictures were very much enjoyed by all the community.
We are very proud of our Y6 pupils and the passion and enthusiasm they have put in to their work on climate change. They have shared some great ideas with the rest of the school on how to reduce our impact on the environment, from walking to school to reducing waste in packed lunches, they have even written a song to help us remember their top tips!

Different year groups came together to share books, play board games and outdoor games. We wrapped up the week with a whole school movie on the last day of term and each class came dressed in a 'class colour' to celebrate coming together as a team.β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ’š

It is with great sadness that we grieve the loss of one who devoted her life to faithful duty. As 'Supreme Head of the Church of England', and 'by the grace of God, Defender of the Faith'. The parish churches of the Gauzebrook Group will be open during the period of mourning with (loose leaf) books of condolence which you can sign, and to provide a place for quiet reflection.

Today there will be short services of prayer and reflection at
12 noon in Stanton St Quintin and Hullavington.
1 pm in Luckington and Sherston.

As well as further services of thanksgiving on Sunday in each of our churches - watch this space.

Muffled bells will be rung across the country between 12-1pm.
