Amazing! Well done Essa :) So important kids know the emergency number. This is something we teach at Little Rescuers x

This week is and the theme this year is ‘express yourself’, where children are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings through creativity.
After such a difficult year I think it is even more important that we focus on our children’s mental health.
Here is a pic of my two expressing themselves this week by building a snowman. Inside, they love to dance to music.
The school have also sent us some great ideas in the form of baking, Art and games.
What creative activities have you been doing with your children? Please share your ideas.
There are also some fantastic resources here:

WE ARE THEIR EVERYTHING!
Our children mean the world to us but we mean the world to them too! At Little Rescuers we deliver fun and interactive first aid sessions to children of all ages, from Nursery to the end of primary school.
BIG CHANGES!
During the first lockdown, when we couldn't reach children face to face, we created some online learning resources and they have worked really well. We also wrote a book to help children understand COVID.
FROM US TO YOU!
This time round, in lockdown 3, we just want to help and give something back. We are Parents too and have our children at home, homeschooling......it's hard for everyone! So, we are offering our book and online resources completely free for the duration of lockdown. Please feel free to use this link, pick what you would like and use it with your children.
Let's empower them with the confidence and skills to help in an emergency.....and the best part.....they won't even know they are learning!
I hope you find it useful,
Stay safe,

💜💫 CHRISTMAS MAGIC 💜 💫
Do you remember having butterflies in your tummy when you wrote your letter to Santa? Or the excitement in the playground as you chatted to your friends about all the fun you would have over the Christmas holidays?
We do … and that’s why we think it’s SO important that every child gets to experience the Magic of Christmas.
While our friends at other charities ensure Santa doesn’t “forget” anyone, we want to help get the little ones in to the festive spirit early by adding a little extra sparkle with...
✨A CHRISTMAS EVE BOX ✨
Each box will be filled with brand new pyjamas, slipper socks, a festive activity, a Christmas story book, sweet treats, a mug and hot chocolate, reindeer feed and a snack for Santa.
How can YOU help…
🎄 We have created an Amazon WishList from which you can purchase winter warmers and festive treats for each Christmas Eve Box. Your generous gifts will be sent directly to our headquarters where our amazing volunteers will pack them up and ship them out to a child in our city.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2X4YWDA4I5TIT?ref_=wl_share
⭐ Alternatively, you can donate directly to our ‘No Child Should Go Without Believing in Magic’ campaign via our Just Giving page.

Please help us fill little ones hearts with Christmas Magic.
💜Thank you 💜

What are you up to today, Caroline?
Oh, not much... might take the kids to the park, a few jobs to do around the house, play with some lungs...
WHAT?!
That's right, boys and girls. Caroline is being let loose in the Little Rescuers Body Bits Hospital, and she is going to be dissecting - yep, you read that right, DISSECTING - some lungs later on.
Tune in at 2.30pm if you're brave enough!

Some Halloween fun coming up!!
We have a spook-tacularly gruesome line up for half-term - you're in for a real treat, Little Rescuers!
On Tuesday, Caroline is going to be showing us some horrible hearts and lungs. Not for the faint-hearted, this one!
Ruth will have her eyes on you on Wednesday as she invites us all to the Little Rescuers lab to play with some eerie eyeballs.
Next up is Fran, who will be checking out some seriously slimy snot on Thursday - eugh!
And, finally, on Friday... a special Halloween feast... Caroline will be serving us up some brains for dinner. Yummy!
Who is going to be brave enough to join us?!

Caroline was back in the classroom this week teaching first aid to pupils at a school in the Newcastle area. Looking forward to hopefully doing the same here sometime soon...

How do we teach children about first aid while maintaining social distancing, and making sure that everything is COVID-secure?
I’ve seen questions like this being asked on Facebook, and also on some of the teacher chats on the likes of Twitter. It’s a valid question, and one that I have answered below.
In short:
🐯We teach in bubbles consistent with how children are taught elsewhere in school
🐯All of our equipment is cleaned and sanitised before and after each class
🐯We have amended our lesson plans for that they can be taught in a COVID-secure ways
🐯Our teachers wear visors or masks at all times

As schools go back, it’s usual for kids to catch colds and sniffles. But in the current situation, you may be confused about whether or not they need to be tested for coronavirus if they’re unwell. Our new page explains when you need to get them tested, and when you don’t 👉 parentclub.scot/articles/does-my-child-need-a-covid-19-test

Who here has children back to school this week? This is a picture of my two this morning all ready to start P4 and P2. However, due to the bad weather this morning School has now been closed. So another day at home! 🤦
Hopefully they will be back tomorrow 🤞
Anyone else in the same situation?
I have to say I have had mixed emotions about then going back. Happy, but also a bit apprehensive. Can anyone else relate?

“While some of the adults weren’t sure what to do – or didn’t have the confidence to step in – it was a child who saved the man’s life”
Just had a chat with Ruth, who is a former primary school teacher, and now the proud owner of Little Rescuers - Tyneside.
One of the children that Ruth taught first aid to was able to save a man’s life after he collapsed. He knew exactly what to do, and – unlike some of the other bystanders – he was confident enough to do it.
This is exactly why we do what we do at Little Rescuers. We empower children with the skills, the knowledge, and the CONFIDENCE to help others in emergency situations.
Well done, Ruth, and a huge round of applause to this incredible Little Rescuer!
