What this is all about:
Ok- so the world is a pretty hectic place right now and I wanted to do something to try and help as best I can.
I'm a Year 5/6 teacher and Deputy Headteacher at a Primary school in West Sussex, UK and together with all the other teachers and school staff I know (they just don’t know it yet) will use their expertise ranging from nursery and Early Years all the way to University to find activities, games and whatever else we can think of that will be meaningful and fun for everyone.
With children and adults going into quarantine and possible lockdown, I thought about how that could lead to some seriously stressful times for everyone involved, so wanted to do something that might help or even make it fun. In the current situation we need to support one another as best we can, and that applies to children too- who may well find this situation scary and confusing.
So... this page will hopefully help to make time at home together better. We can either allow it to be stressful and worsen or we can make something of it- to make the time for the children and adults productive and fun. These are rapidly and ever changing circumstances so we’ll do our best to stay on top.
We will try to post a range of things but please do message and ask- we'll do requests unlike the rubbish DJ who won't play DJ Luck and MC Neat a third time at 3am.
There will also be an attempt at humour, because what is the point if we can't try and have fun. That does not take away the levity of the situation, but it might help somehow.
THINGS THAT WILL HELP!
Before things are locked down entirely (if they are, who knows yet) these following items may well be of great use and will work with what we post...
- Pencils- normal and colouring
- Different pens (berol handwriting/biro)
- The ability to stay chill when a child says 'that's not how we were taught at school'.
- Snacks
- Glue sticks (these will be worth millions once lockdown is over)
- Stickers- there is no shame in bribery
- Flexibility (not gymnast style, but attitude- kids are dynamic and ever changing creatures- but you knew that)
- Positivity (it is the number one thing- trust me!)
- Access to a printer would be helpful but not essential, you can always use a tablet or laptop
- Access to a laptop or tablet
-A4 plain paper and squared paper/workbooks
-A3 paper
- Books to read, share and enjoy together
- The ability to maybe order things online if needed e.g new reading books/wine
Please share this around, it's all free- just want to help in some way. Get in touch if you have any questions or want to help- sharing is caring!
If you 'like' the page and follow, it will hopefully come up on your timeline. Likewise, please do share it out to others to help spread the word and hopefully we can create a community where everyone is helping eachother.
Wash your hands, be kind, party on.
