Last weekend some of our Year 10 cohort experienced a fun packed revision and activities trip at PGL in Merchants Hill, Surrey. Our students enjoyed problem-solving, puzzles, axe throwing, the trapeze, zip wiring as well as preparing for the upcoming year 10 PPE with revision sessions. In the evening they enjoyed a silent disco. It was a fun weekend away with lots of memories made! - Mrs Lay 🤩

Our Year 10 PGL students have arrived safely for their weekend away! So far they have settled into their rooms, had dinner and have embarked on their first activity of the weekend - The ‘PGL’ Tournament!

Note: Mrs Lay's signal is not the best but we will do our best to update you over the course of the weekend with photos! 😃

As part of Mental Health week our lovely Mental Health Ambassadors & Counselling Teams joined forces to deliver a special Assembly to remind our community of ways they can take care of their mental health and help others around them.

They also ran a Cake Sale to raise funds toward further Mental Health projects across school in which a whopping £104.00 was raised!! Even Heriot our Therapy Dog made an appearance - he must have smelt the fairy cakes! 🐶🎂

Thank you to all who got involved in what was a week of reminding everyone about the importance of living in the moment and that there is always somebody to speak to here at Thurstable if they are feeling down 💚

On Thursday 18th April, our year 10 GCSE Art students took part in a workshop led by local mixed media artist, Matt Mackman. Students were introduced to Matt’s artwork and how it had developed over time, along with his influences and the techniques that he uses to create his work. Using images that they had provided, students were then able to create their own mixed media piece using a range of materials and layering techniques. All students that took part, engaged really positively with the workshop and worked hard to complete a piece that they could be proud of. During the workshop they were challenged to take risks and push themselves out of their comfort zones. The result was some amazing final pieces which will form part of their coursework, and newly gained skills that can be used in future work for their course - a very successful and enjoyable day for all! - Mrs Poole 🤩🎨

Our students have now hit over 1 million questions answered on Sparx Maths this year! 🙀

They are showing outstanding aspiration and resilience, especially when coming across a tricky topic! Well done everyone! 💚
