**update**
The willow structures are fine and no damage they just need a good prune. We have replanted the trees that had been pulled up but the canes are still in the beck. We will attempted to retrieve them tomorrow.
I have been give some names of those who were seen in the grounds and with the canes. These will be passed onto school and the police. Thank you for all your offers of help it means a lot.
Absolutely gutted today to go to do maintenance on our willow structures to find the canes have all been pulled out, thrown in the beck behind school and the trees have also been ripped out. Hours of care and patience has been put into this area to make it somewhere nice and relaxing for our children to explore to come into this ..

Head on down to Thirsk market place and support our friends over at Friends of Thirsk School and Sixth Form
14/09/2023
Our friends at Friends of Thirsk School and Sixth Form are in urgent need of a chair person. If you might be interested in this post then email or ring the school.
Urgent – Chairperson required.
At the AGM of the Friends of Thirsk School last night we had no candidate for the post of Chair.
Sadly, without this position, our successful Friends team will need to disband.
Therefore, we are urgently looking for a candidate to take this role. They will be supported by an experienced and highly successful team with a track record of success.
The funding we have brought into this school over recent years through the Race Night, Colour Run and Quiz Night is significant. Our next event is the Beer Festival on 6th October.
Please contact me in school on 01845 522024 or [email protected].

EAST THIRSK OUTDOOR SPORTS AND RECREATION – COMMUNITY SURVEY
Thirsk Community Primary School is looking to construct a Play Zone for school and community use. A Play Zone are multi use games area with an artificial pitch surface and floodlighting. We hope to apply for funding and need to be able to show that there is a need for this type of facility, and identify the type of activities people want to use it for.
To help us with this we would be grateful if you could complete our survey so we can find out the demand for a facility like this and what activities people would like to be able to do – it will only take a couple of minutes. Please feel free to share this link with your family, friends and groups as the more people that complete it the better our funding application will be.

As another school academic year comes to an end it’s not just year 6 pupils completing their school journey. For some families it marks the end of a parent’s or carers time with their school as their children move on to high schools. And for some of you here that marks the end of your PTA journey.
So for all you PTA supporters out there, volunteers, games makers, candy flossers, cake bakers, committee members, elected officers, ex-chairs/secretaries/treasurers, and the 1000 & 1 other ways in which you have all helped, thank you. Thank you for your unending support, your camaraderie and your friendship. Go forward knowing that you have left your schools having made a difference. Not only directly in things funded but also in developing community spirit within school, in forming new friendships between parents and between children spanning year groups and social circles and in creating children’s school years memories of fairs and events that you ran that they will always carry with them.
On behalf of all pupils, schools, families & PTAs, we thank you for your support and we wish you and your families the very best in your next chapters of family life together.

As you are all probably aware, Friday is Mr Chandlers last day at Thirsk Community Primary School as he’s heading off to pastures new. Personally I am very aware I have probably been the cause of one or two of those greys hairs on his head due to the events I keep planning and bringing to him… from our very first BooBash to the colour run and planting the Platinum woods and Turkey run. Which in my defence the latter was his idea!
He took part in all these events with so much enthusiasm and supported us whole heartedly, getting stuck in in paint, live raffle draws and inflatable turkey suits! We have had the best few years with the support of Mr Chandler and would like you to join us in wishing him all the best. Here are a few of his best bits, he’s camera shy…… (I might need to step down tomorrow..🙈🙈😬)

RE. Sports day postponed
Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the high chance of rain throughout the day, we will be postponing all Sports Day events. A new date for the will be shared shortly. We are sorry that Sports Day cannot take place today however, the likelihood of rain is high and a wet field/ sports track has meant that we have to postpone.
Yours sincerely

To be able to hold our summer fair we need lots of volunteers, something which has rapidly declined over the last few years as children move on.
Instead of a summer fair we are looking to hold an inflatable fun event on Friday 7th July 5-7 pm. A Giant assault course, loopy ladder, maybe even it’s a knock out, a rodeo bull and a bouncy castle for the smaller people. We would put on food and refreshments, face painting and tombolas BUT we need your help. Is anyone able to offer a couple of hours to help at this event? It could be setting up, watching the inflatables, serving refreshments or packing away at the end.
We wont be able to organise it without enough volunteers and we would hate to have to fold.. 😞
If you can help at our inflatable event or would like more information please fill in the google form below and someone will be in touch.
We will also looking for class reps.
A class rep is someone who liaises with the parents in the class either by messenger groups or what’sap. I know most year groups have a year group chat and the clas rep will be in charge of posting a gentle reminder about events coming up.
I will also add this to the bottom of the form.

What an amazing experience our year 6 children have had this week. Can’t wait to hear all about it tomorrow. A massive thank you to Mrs Kirkman and Mr Challenger for taking them and staying over. Memories they will remember forever.
