Impossible to believe that Hayden only started lessons with you in October!
You are giving him a skill for life and more importantly, confidence in his abilities in something!
Have a wonderful Christmas!

Playing like the Winter Sun
This is such great advice!
Playing like the Winter Sun Cherish the music you play. Dazzle with the easy! Stop thinking in terms of levels and progress, and start thinking about reaching the soul. Play like the winter sun…

Very happy to announce that my six students who took exams this month all passed.
Two passes, two merits and two distinctions.
Congratulations to all and thanks for continuing the 100% pass rate I've held since the '80's. 😀
Exciting day for Cherry Music today.
6 students are taking their exams 😀
🎹🎼🎹🎼🎹Good luck 🤞
Practice makes perfect!
Just met with a lovely new student who is deaf. She says learning piano is number 1 on her bucket list. I feel so privileged to be able to help her with this. I have a feeling she is going to one of my favourite students.
Just wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've heard some amazing piano playing in the studio this week. So rewarding to hear people with no previous experience doing so well so quickly. I have the best job in the world.
A very clear indication of pedal use....
Just conducted my first ever lesson via Skype! It went rather well. For a regular student who was unable to make it in person. The wonders of technology!
Well that's me done now for another year.
Thank you to all my students for all their hard work this year and also for the enormous amount of gifts and kind words received in the run up to Christmas. I feel very privileged to have such a lovely group of students.
Merry Christmas to everyone and their families. See you next year!
PS: No more carols in January!
A new look for the new year! I will be rebranding over the holiday period to Cherry Music Studio. Here's the new logo. The name of this page will also be changing.
Many congratulations to my two students who kept my ABRSM pass rate at 100%!
Grace did her preparatory test and got fantastic comments.
Emma did her Grade 1 and achieved an easy merit, almost a distinction.
Well done both of you!
Got to train my cats!
Was on my best behaviour earlier as I had not one, but two uniformed police officers on the studio sofa while I was teaching their daughter. Felt very safe though!
Today is exam day for two of my students. We are all off to Shrewsbury together shortly. Good luck to them!
My cat has finally learnt Furry Lise 😻
One of my favourite students 😺
Teaching two siblings yesterday. I gave the 7 year old a version of Silent Night I had arranged myself for his ability level.
He is very surprised when I said I had written it and asked 'How can you do that??'
Before I could answer, his 9 year old sister said "Because Liz has the gift of amazingness"
And that sort of thing is what makes my fantastic job even better!
Hilarious lesson this afternoon. Student plays her piece and gets muddled. Then says she is so used to playing with distractions that it's the only way she can play. So I ask her to retry whilst we discuss the day she has had at work. She played it perfectly whilst chatting away!
Taught some great lessons today. My favourite was a boy just turned 8. Only started in July, but nothing is beyond him so far. Both parents came with him today, and it was very interesting when I said I was stunned at his rapid progress. Their response? He's always playing at home, can't get him off the piano... Proof that you get out what you put in.
How to Choose Musical Instrument?
If you are a classical musician this is your place --> Classical Music Mode
Best excuse I've ever been given for cancelling a lesson today. Students mum had a baby this lunchtime (lesson should be in 20 minutes time). Excused!
These little fellas were a hit in the studio today. Mini maracas to help with rhythm 😀
Sat in the sunshine writing my own versions of popular tunes for my very little students. Just done 'Happy' for a 6 year old boy and about to start 'Let it go (Frozen)' for many of my little girls. 😀
What a fantastic end to the week. My last 3 students are a father and his two secondary age sons. I teach them 30 minutes each, back to back. That should be hard work, but it was an hour and a half of enjoyment as they had practiced so much and soaked up everything new. I don't know how they manage with just one keyboard at home! Dad did admit to a squabble tonight after school before the lesson lol!
3 new students have signed up today, and I'm not even advertising. 33 lessons a week now!
Here's dedication for you. My student has a fractured elbow and collarbone. Had still practiced and made the lesson. And....played hands together 😀
