Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel
21 March—1 April

This year we will again be taking park in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge.

This initiative is a great way to build physical activity in children’s daily routine which is important for their physical health and mental wellbeing. Active school runs also help to reduce the congestion and air pollution outside the school gate.

We are encouraging the children to walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the event. Each day the class teacher will record how the children have arrived to school. Total numbers will then be added to a database where schools are in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

Comic Relief—Red Nose Day

Children in Need

Tomorrow, Friday 19 November, will be a non uniform day to support Children in Need.

Last year, instead of bringing in a cash donation, we asked children to bring in an item that could be used to make a Christmas Box for a family in need within our school community. Due to the tremendous success of this we are asking for this again this year.

Examples of some items are:

food, chocolate, sweets best by date 2022 and EU origin

toothbrush and toothpaste,

shower gel, soap, flannel

children’s gloves, scarf or hat (new),

hair brush, bobbles

colouring pencils and books,

travel size games (draughts, dominoes, playing cards)

small toys (yo-yo skipping rope, toy car)

socks and tights,

small soft toys new with CE l safety label

Thank you
